I thought the first movie was quite good. Very emotional at one point. Selena just about made me cry (I will never admit to crying).

I did love her singular tactic during the battle against her brother of conjuring a mud hole for him to fall in and then magicking herself to the finish line.

I guess I don't have the same level of attachment to the character that you do. I don't think the Stevie character (played by Hayley Kiyoko) was ever intended to be a recurring one by the show's producer. She did a decent job during the four-episode arc, but an extended run would have undermined / diminished Alex's Machiavellian qualities.

I think they made Alex better, she more than anyone else who had been on the show before helped Alex with her plotting and schemes. I still think it's odd they got away with

without getting in trouble.

I thought Stevie was a great addition and wish they would've kept her around longer. I think it would've been more interesting if they had Alex join her and she prevailed in what she wanted to do. It would've made for a longer storyline and gave Alex & co. something bigger to have to fix later. Or maybe not fix it and just have to deal with the consequences.

I think it would've made for an interesting twist to end season 3 but I'm not sure how long all those almost trained wizards could've kept it up against real wizards and the wizards' council.
