I watch the trailers and look at the reviews. They are somewhat "informed" blind buys I think. The price isn't that much more than going to the theater and watching them. Someday I'll sell the ones I didn't care for. There are only a few.

Questionable was a bad choice of words. I was just being stupid...

Some titles caught my eye as being odd in conjunction with the rest of the titles that Clone Trooper had. Honestly, I never meant anything by it. As I said to Clone Trooper...God knows I've got some unusual titles as well...even more so. Like MyBlu-rayBrotherEd said though if you like it than you like it. No harm no foul.

Honestly though if I wern't going to rank your based on quality for it's size you would get a very low score, but that's not really a fair way to rank for such a small collection, so I do it by quality for it's size, and as there are titles in your collection I don't care for, a 7/10 is what I would give you.

Well what could I call then?

Because it seems that anything above 8 you could call a collection because you have a range of movies. If it were 3 then yes I would agree with you.

For me, size of a collection means very little--it's the quality and diversity of the films that count. So, someone with 10 great films has a better collection imo than someone with 100 terrible or even mediocre films.

You have a large collection for sure, but that doesn't impress me. What impresses me is the diversity of your collection, both in genre and time period. You have a good mixture of new and old films that cross a wide range of styles and categories. Your main weaknesses are your lack of Criterion titles, which are a must for any serious blu-ray collector, or for any serious movie collector in general, and your distinct lack of foreign films. Criterion films and foreign films are an absolute must for a true movie fan. You also have many titles I consider throw away, but that's to be expected with a very large collection.

I'm referring to sonofarathorn, not you. We all had 10 films at one point, and it's every bit of a collection as his 250+ films; everyone starts somewhere, so his comment wasn't needed.

Criterion releases classic films, most of which are foreign, in fully restored director-approved versions. Some of their films are 70+ years old. The blus cost most, usually around $30-40, because they come in fancy packaging with booklets featuring essays, as well as some of the best and rarest special features on blu. Most ppl consider them the gems of movie collecting. If you click on movies at the top and then pick Criterion from the list on the left, you can which titles are available. Or go to their website.

Thanks, but my collection is hardly a 10. Once I own all the films in my wishlist, I think it'll be more deserving. I only buy films I truly like and will watch again. I don't get ppl who randomly buy junk films.

Never really been into foreign films, but there are Criterion titles on my want list, just need them to come down in price a bit.

I have when the price is right (eg: the descent for 12au). Better then paying $6 to rent it on dvd. I am looking at netflix though, but it's offers arn't very good in aus.
