Sweet stats! Moh, moh, moh betta for Blu-ray. I do have to say, with them being over 70% again impresses me, especially with the player fire sale. If Sony continues to stress the Blu-ray playback on the PS3, they'll have a winner in this format war, sooner rather than later.

It's not entirely cleared up, but yes people should be a lot more tolerant of scepticism on here.

People always want to take the best possible view for their side and the worst possible one for the other.

Talking

From what I've seen the official numbers are:
Spiderman 3 78,511
Spiderman Trilogy boxset 56,489

So I would guess that would mean 135,000 Spiderman 3s were actually sold in the first week, although they are the official numbers it does seem strange they would add up to a perfect even number.

Sure it doesn't beat Transformer's 190,000 but still a really good number for a high definition DVD.

And remember we still have Ratatouille being sold, that should do very well also (I received mine yesterday and watched it last night) and all I can say is WOW!

But doesn't the 190,000 Transformers figure include Wal-Mart while the Spider-Man figure doesn't??

It only makes sence to do an apples to apples comparison:

Neilen's Transformers numbers to Neilen's Spiderman 3 numbers.

So Spiderman 3 wins out, for whatever that's worth.

I think it's safe to say by now that Transformer's 190,000 sold is a false number.

The numbers for this week will beat the 74 % record. Hopefully Blu-ray will build a good momentum in the next couple of month.

Just saw the numbers. 71% Blu is not bad. Bet it would have been around 90% Blu hadn't P-***** sold us out.

WOW, very encouraging...we are coming up on a tough week though. HD-DVD has a little ace in their back pocket and it is called Pride & Prejudice. I hope we can hold them off!

I wouldn't worry, it's Shrek the Third, Pride and Prejudice, Oceans HD DVD, and a few Transformers sales going against Prision Break, CE3K, Oceans Blu-Ray, and residual Pixar sales. And I believe that Spiderman 3 will do well for a long time.

If we are to believe Sony why would we not believe Paramount?

I do think they are both real sold numbers and why beat a dead horse when the truth is known (we might not like it).

135,000
vs 190,000 and I don't really like the Transformers movie at all but a lot of people must have and what I've read the sold numbers are very reliable (realize the numbers I read and posted are 5,000 better for Spiderman 3 then the ones everyone has been posting previously)

There is a great chance that blu could break the 80 mark this week ridding the coatails of Ratatouille, Cars and Pixar Shorts. Only residuals sales from the $99 firesale last week could damper that but I am still hopeful we can break the 80% mark

It is the number the Studio gave as sold, not shipped.

I know I'm new here, but I don't care for made up numbers no matter how much better they would make me feel.

The facts are best and are always better then when strong wishes are posted as facts.

With knowledge we become better for it in the long run, inaccurate information is always found out and exposed and then it makes who produced it look stupid and no one will pay attention to them anymore.

The "Official" numbers as you call them is just getting a ratio from the HMM percentages, then multiplying them by the 135,000 that Sony claimed to sell.

And as the other poster mentioned...SM3's numbers don't include Wal*Mart...like Trans...bah, I can't do it. You really believe 190,000? HAHAHAHAHA.

Well, it must be pointed out that Paramount defended their numbers saying the massive difference between Nielsens reported figures and theirs was due to not counting "Amazon, Blockbuster and Netflix sales"

So, im not sure im believing paramount when they try to mislead when the aforementioned sales places ARE tracked.

The difference is no one is disputing sonys claim......its not as if Paramount or HD DVD cant "bribe" or "pay" people to leak "real" numbers as sony was accuse don regarding Transformers.

There is much controversy surrounding the Transformers figures from EVERYWHERE and with good reason, until we see some figures disputing sonys claim (which we havent) i cant see how they are comparible.

Eh. Could, but HD-DVD doesn't have anything coming out that week to deal with residual sales of Die Hard.
