You can go with Amazon and get a new model there. Free shipping and no tax. They've had them since March 1 but I think they've been going in and out of stock in the past week or two.

plus he has a 42" plasma & directv hd-dvr box in there........damn i spoil him too much lol
Haha, that is fantastic! I've got a 4 year old and a 2 year old. I wouldn't be surprised if I'm there as well when they are a little older.

Well, I'll probably just keep it so we all play together I wonder at what age he'll surpass me in gaming ability.

Actually, people have been ordering them from amazon since that time and have received the 2001A model (a couple of people on here have received 2001A's as well). They have a 2-4 week shipping time frame (probably they'll have the @2101A buy then). People are better off checking their local retailer so they can see for themselves if they have a 2101A.

Yeah, I would steer clear of Amazon for a while. Buy at a B&M store to be sure.

Can anyone tell me how the profiles work I have a psn on the original that I use for my madden franchise here on this site. Is it just a matter of logging in on the new PS3 with that login info?
Update: So far so good this new one definitly runs cooler and quieter than the 60GB. I don't know maybe it's the placebo effect but picture looks different also, colors seem a little darker.

I just got the new model a couple weeks ago, it does run a lot quieter. I do find it takes longer, sometime much longer to load a disc though compared to my old 80gig.

When I start a game it doesn't seem to send to my receiver right away. Hard to describe but I will try. When at the xmb and I start the game my tv will usually change settings I see the video input flash in the top right corner and a few seconds later the game screen comes up. Now I am finding that the game starts and the ps3 doesn't do any changes on the tvs screen, sits for a while just black, after hitting a couple buttons like start or X the video input flashes at the top of the screen and I am now past the title screen of the game, so when I pressed start or X the game was already on the title screen but not showing on the tv... I hope that's understandable, I'm not sure if its an issue with the unit or if it has anything to do with bitstreaming as opposed to linear PCM I was running on my 80gig....

nothing wrong with spoiling my kid. so what if other parents dont like it.
i do it when he earns it......they HATE because they cant afford to do it.
funny thing is all the kids that come over LOVE my sons room. id rather have them play here than go to someone elses house where who knows if they wash their cups good, feed my child or have roaches.

im the parent who feeds the kids pizza, juice, cookies etc. i dont mind but they all know to ASK for anything. the one time a kid went in the fridge i kicked him out and i havent let him back in since

back on topic.........my sons ps3 slim runs quieter than my old model slim

After reading this thread i checked my ps3 and i also have the newer model..i watched 3:10 to yuma..played home..and then played red dead redemption & never heard the fan once...the system was barely even warm when i went to turn it off...Very impressed. Nice to know its newer hardware. I purchased it from best buy.

Strange how they would skip from 2101A/2101B to 2501A/2501B...

Maybe the Move bundle will be $299 and the standalone bundle will be $199? Seems highly unlikely though.

That wouldn't warrant FCC involvement. The only way these need to be submitted to the FCC is if the internals have changed or a new wireless accessory is being bundled inside the box.

I suppose we'll find out by next week!

I have not had any issues with mine, seems to work the same as my 60gb, I like that the slim is quieter and doesen't heat my livingroom as the fatty did.

I am pretty sure the issues I was having is with the Red Dead Redemption disc and not the unit. All other games play fine but RDR doesnt load properly sometimes.

Isn't it just a change in a chipset.
