I'm pissed, too.
I just posted about this, and saw your message. I have the same problem. I hope Sony isn't going to eventually force me to use this machine in Japanese-only! I purchased this because it worked in English if I chose to do so. It's wrong to force a language on users after they originally purchased the machine for a certain functionality! I suspect this was done ON PURPOSE because people were moving between stores and downloading different free material in countries other than they were in. This has me very angry.
