We have been alerted to a manufacturing problem with our Walkabout Blu-ray edition that occurs on a limited number of players. The affected players are:

Sony BDP-350 and BDP-360
Pioneer BDP-05FD and BDP-120
Sharp BD-HP22U, BD-HP21U, and BD-HP20U
Memorex MVBD2520
Insignia NS-2BRDVD

The disc will not load in the Insignia and Memorex players, and with the others, about fifty minutes into the feature, the audio and video begin to skip and stutter. We are working with the pressing plant to resolve this issue as soon as possible. If you have our Walkabout Blu-ray disc and own one of these players, please e-mail Jon Mulvaney so that we can notify you as soon as replacement copies become available.

I believe a few people posted about having problems with the movie.

In other news, got a call back from Karen M. this morning and she said the reason my first order of cases for The 400 Blows, The Third Man, and Last Year At Marienbad hadn't shipped was because they never got confirmation of the payment, but they did get it for the second order for The Last Emperor, so I forwarded her my paypal reciept for the first order and they shipped out all 4 cases in one shipment today! WOOT!

Check this out Oshima/Bowie fans, I wonder if it's real? I hope it is on blu. Someone posted it on CriterionForum but don't know where they found it.

In the meantime, I'm holding on to my dvd copy of Seven Samurai for dear life until the blu-ray is announced and I can compare the specs. I hope it's not a release like The Last Emperor where they dropped the extended edition and changed the cropping. They better keep Seven Samurai BD the 207 minute version at 1.33:1 aspect ratio!

Well that scene is a love not war type theme. That cover is awesome, since yesterday I was talking about them doing too much on the covers. It's nice, clean, and gets the point across. Could we have a war themed September with this and Thin Red Line? Also how did the poster find this pic? Is it something new Criterion is doing? So many questions.

I just hope it's on blu, since we just got all those Oshima's on Eclipse, time for a blu.

Am I the only one who keeps all of my DVDs (Criterion and others) when I buy the Blu-ray....even when the Blu-ray has all of the supplements and more......

I keep my dvds, but just because I hate getting rid of stuff.

After reading that film it sounds like something I'd like. The only Oshima film I've ever seen is In the Realm of the Senses.
