I'm the Loewe guy for Canada oddly enough and as far as North America is concerned, Loewe Germany doesn't want to even entertain the concept of re-evaluating the market here. We've been trying to change their minds for two years and gotten nowhere. There's nothing out there like a Loewe picture but the company lost too much money in the US. It sucks big time but that's the way it is. The closest it'll come to NA is the UK.

Dave, I might buy the Loewe if it comes out by March (which is my BD player upgrade time, provided something significantly better than the PS3 comes along), but I don't want it to be region B locked.

And now you tell us there won't be any region A Loewes, eh?

Yeah, it bites for sure. I sold Loewe in retail for years them went to the Canadian distributor who handled the line. I was the Mr. Know It All on Loewe sets and Panurgy in NJ, who does warranty service on the sets had to get a lot of their info from me. I still use a Loewe Planus i as my main set. If I find a better LCD or Plasma I'll buy it. So far... nada. I still have all the service doc's on Loewe, what all the settings in the service menu do, etc...

I live in the US (Chicago) and am on the market for a B-machine. I would likely get one from Holland next year but I need to know that I will be able to use it in the US for my imported discs.

Am I to assume that this machine will upconvert PAL discs to my XBR3 without a problem? I also realize that it is a 1.0 player and I am perfectly fine with it. Ever since it was announced at CEDIA my eyes have been on it. Stylish looking European machine.

Loewe is pretty by the book. If the unit is region free, I'll be surprised. Hey, Pro' you play the Bassoon? How cool is that? Good on ya!
