oh yeah they did but i still cant do anything about it, my situation is crap. I work for my dad, and there is only me and 1 other guy there all day, so if i rat him out he will know it was me. Plus ive bugged my dad for about the last year to tell him he cant smoke inside, but my dad wont do anything about it. i don't know what to do and its driving me crazy.

Most manufacturers will not replace the lcd panel under F/W unless it has a certain number of dead pixels. One definitely won't qualify it for replacement, so unless you know the salesman like you said you do, or you purchased the unit less than 30 days ago, you're SOL.

I'm not sure about TVs, but for computer monitors (which you see MUCH more closely and have fewer pixels) it's 8-12 dead pixels depending on the screen size to be covered under warranty. If you are still in the return policy, definitely take it back! (I did this with a monitor actually, at Future Shop).
When I bought my Sony I had it side by side with a similar sized Samsung LCD, and the Sharp 2" bigger... The Sony was $200 more than the other two, and the Samsung came with a free upconverting DVD player... I still ended up choosing the Sony. If you can wait to get it until the start of December, you'll be able to go back on December 27th and pricematch to the boxing week sale price... |

Does the warranty make a distinction between dead pixels and stuck on pixels?

That actually sounds like a stuck pixel, not a dead one. Can you hook a PC to that display?
There are various programs that can help fix stuck pixels. |

You may be able to massage the pixel back to work. Search google for "massaging pixels" and you'll find plenty of instructions.
