Bill has been saying BTTF was coming this year since last year.

They stole the shots without permission 99.9999999%

European divisions of studios are leaky faucets. And everyone is chasing those early pre orders. It's really no question BTTF is coming.

Jeff,

As someone who greatly enjoys buying and watching TV series on Bluray, in your opinion will we see either a US release of Season 2 of Prison Break or a Complete Series collection?

I am currently halfway thru Season 3 of BSG after only seeing the first season and a half during it's run on SciFi. I am enjoying them immensely. I am excited to purchase and watch the Lost Complete Series Collection once its hits store shelves too, as I've never seen an episode of the show.

My point (to the studios) regarding TV shows, especially the serialized shows, is if I am going to make a committment to purchase and watch them, I want a guarantee that I can see the whole thing in 1080P. In other words, I won't purchase Prison Break or any other series on Bluray if I can't have the whole thing.

So, I saw my first ever 7.1 theater experience today. Except for the promo/demo at the start of the feature, I was totally unimpressed.

Jeff will you or have you seen Toy Story 3 in all it's :cough: 7.1 splendor?

And what did you think?

Maybe Step up 3D will utilize it

Yes. When I've stopped guessing

If you want it right now, you can get it from Amazon France for about $100, and there's less French on the box than your average Canadian release (Canadian studios take note, real honest to goodness French people put less French on their cover art then you do). These are identical discs to what you'd be getting in region 1, even pop up FBI warnings (but are lacking the commentaries except on the first season)

While I am unaware of any season past the first for BSG, I can tell you thatTV is very much a catch 22 right now. Studios don't want to put out the money unless they're going to make money, only the hardcore are upgrading catalog TV right now, and many of them don't want to invest unless they're guaranteed the full run. Ive been talking with people about how to get the costs of production on the TV stuff down and make it make sense, but it's an uphill battle right now.

Not until Tuesday, dunno if my theater upgraded, though I expect it did since it was already equipped for EX. I've always thought that 7.1 was essentially a gimmick. If you place your surround speakers correctly on 5.1, it adds very little. In fact the only time I ever noticed the rear effects in a theater was Gladiator when they're swinging that mace around

I think Peter was making the assumption that Xylon had been picked up by a real publication people pay attention to.

That (additional to the locals on AVS) idiots overseas will see this shiite and take it as gospel.

Oversharpened MPEG2 vs. selective DNR VC-1 on selected frames, now in a publication.

I agree with you there. I've come out of Surround EX films and hardly been able to tell when the back speakers are working (in THX Certified theatres along with others). At home, it's much easier to notice the back channels (probably due to fewer speakers and a much smaller area) but even then, I am not sure it's worth it. I'd say there's a larger leap from 5.1 to 6.1 (even if it's matrixed) than from 6.1 to 7.1.

That post kinda made me fondly remembering eagerly looking up disc sales to see how badly Blu thrashed HD-DUD every Friday morning (I think it was Friday morning).

I was just curious to see if Avatar had reached the ever elusive one billion sold!

Kosty (HDD) had a list of the all-time top sellers recently with approximate numbers. Avatar was around 2.6 million. Since that posting, it's sold about 100,000 copies each of the last couple of weeks, so it's closer to 2.8 million. Could be at 3 million by now.

The Dark Knight was at 2.3 million, Star Trek 1.36, Iron Man 1.35, The Hangover 1.30. Alice in Wonderland moved about 1.2 million in its first week.

Its good to see films now moving over 1 million bluray units a week.

Jeff, is there any news on the Alien Anthology or is it just still tentatively planned for Q3/Q4 the this year?

I started reading some of my old Aliens Dark Horse comics and man am I stoked about this set as much as ever and the Alien prequel that Mr. Scott is working on.

If anyone here is a fan of the Aliens series half as much as I am (Its probably my all time fav sci-fi series) you owe it to yourself to pick up some of the Dark Horse comics graphic novels and give them a read.

They must have edited out the alien spaceship from that video. :-D

Good enough for me. Can we expect a lot of good coming at Comic Con?

Ill be doing flips if we get Indiana Jones and the Alien Anthology announced.

Like E3, walk into Comic-Con with measured expecatations. Don't expect an orgy of announcements, but I'm sure some good stuff will be revealed

Indiana Jones seems more likely given that Comic Con has always been where Lucas has revealed stuff.

Im getting more nervous that Fox might decide to hold back the Alien Anthology until the prequel films get made.

On the bright side, it was nice to see American Beauty get announced for blu.

Fox will not do that, it's their Christmas anchor title. You have to understand that Christmas in DVD land is right now, everything that's coming out has to be done, and much of the catalog is at press by the time Comic-con actually rolls around. That way there's capacity for the summer stuff that starts coming out in October
