Default Starship Troopers

I found a new BluRay copy of Starship Troopers yesterday and went home and watched it.

I must say, I loved the film back when it came out, thought it was under rated but, now even under the microscope of BluRay I must say..it is nearly flawless.

The film (1997) had a HUGE budget for a Man vs Bugs sci-fi flick especially back then; $121 million.

The director has done some great things, Verhoeven in RoboCop, Total Recall, Basic Instinct, Black Book, etc.

Boobs, Bugs, Buns, Burns, Bombs, Bullets, Bravado...Bravisimo.

2 hours of pure sci fi enjoyment.

The CG EFX are very well done even in todays light.

Give it a check...any other Federation Citizens out there?

=)

Thanks for reminding me about Starship Troopers, I'll have to throw that one on soon.

Ya, it's too bad the sequels are complete crap...although they sort of redeemed themselves slightly with Marauder. The first one is a genius film though.

I agree. It still looks great, especially on Blu.

So many people don't get the humour in this film. They think it's just a straight kill-giant-bugs-with-guns-and-spaceships movie. It's so much more.

yeah, not every 120 million dollar movie's central conceit is the very short road between frat guy and space nazi.

Starship Troopers is such an underrated film! Yeah, it's a bit campy at times, but it adds charm and hilarity to the mix. Definitely a "different" kind of sci-fi movie and ultra-entertaining! I love the satirical underpinning during the entire film.

That, and true, it's PQ/AQ are both very good. I wrote a user review under this site's listing for it almost a year ago. I highly recommend this movie. A must-have for sci-fi fans.

I didnt like it at all when I saw it n the theater. I was looking for something more serious like Aliens. The disk has grown on me over the years and I've watched it at least 10 times on either dvd or bd. Do u want to know more?

Aside from the video/audio glitch that occurs at 1:31.43-1:31.49 and 1:32.00-1:32.06 on the U.S. BD release, yeah it's a great BD. I wish I would have noticed it before I bought it since the U.K. release does not have this problem.

I just purchased this on blu and the clerk said that they re-released it to provide better picture quality. He said they improved the colors. Since I haven't seen the "original" one, I can't say whether or not this guy was full of it, but it sounds like the blu is a good pick up.

The flick is a bit campy, but its like, the more you watch it, the better it is. Too bad Doogy Houser is in it though...

I think the clerk got Starship Troopers mixed up with The Fifth Element.

Sony will replace your copy with a fixed one if you contact them.

The region-free UK import is by another studio, Disney, and has no problems like the first run of Sony's BD.
