This is my second post here, and my first time at this site. I read Kenneth Brown's review of the BD of this film, and found it quite insightful and accurate (I have just finished watching the film on BD). I was confused by a comment he made about Warners spoiling Cukor's plans and forcing him to shoot the film in CinemaScope rather than in Technicolor. CinemaScope is not a color process. And the film was shot in Technicolor. Actually, both processes (video and color) were used. I'd sort of believe he meant Technirama, but I don't know if that process had evolved at that early date. Warners was the first studio to use CinemaScope after Fox trademarked it and introduced it in "The Robe". I could find no means of commenting on his review on the review page. |
