Are XBOX 360 games region-locked?

Most of them are but not all... I have no idea what determines if they lock it or not...

Good looking SteelBook, but I will wait for the price to drop... Xbox 360 SteelBooks seem to always decrease in value by 1/2 before selling out at retailers...

Xbox titles are not region locked in the traditional sense. (As in, regions 0-5 or regions A, B, C if you want to go by BD terms). Basically, xbox region locking only boils down to whether it says NTSC or PAL on the game case.

Since i'm guessing that it says NTSC on the TFU: Ultimate Sith Edition Steelbook, then that basically means that it will not work on a PAL (my region) xbox 360.

I suppose I could double dip and just swap the discs out with the PAL amaray that I have already, but even though the NTSC one is a steelbook, it seems kind of pointlessly expensive.

And yes, I still would like the PAL version of TFU2 to have the same stuff as seen in the picture for the NTSC version, lol.

I'm not sure I see the technical reason why NTSC or PAL makes a difference on computer software, especially on a game console.

The video drivers should be on the console itself to determine whether it is PAL or NTSC, but I will take your word for it.

I still have my launch 60g PS3, and my new slim in top working order. You do the math....

Trust me on this. Game console region lock is a cruel b*tch.

I found out the hard, expensive way.

A few months ago, I found out that Mortal Kombat Armageddon was released on the original xbox, in the states. I loved this game on my PS2. I wanted it for my xbox 360, which is backwards compatible with MKA but only in the States. Only problem was, that MKA never saw a PAL release on xbox, so I thought I would import it.

Didn't work. I don't exactly remember what the error messege was, but I know it was to do with region locking.

Point is, I have never imported another game because of the horrible region locking.

I guess I hit on a nerve ... My comment was only about the advantages of not worrying about region locks ...XBOX has great titles and to each his/her own; wasn't trying to be a fanboy

BTW - I also have my launch PS3 (November 2006) running strong I mean one thing you have to give to Sony is that the thing was built like a tank ... I also like the fact that I can import any PS3 game (for the Steelbooks ) and be confident that it will play in my machine

LOL, you kinda did, I just replaced my last RROD 360 last week.
I try not to be a fanboy either, I really do enjoy nearly all the 360 exclusives. I just don't like it when ppl claim Microsoft's superiority when their hardware is so, so lacking..

I don't know how people deal with that. I mean that's a big PIA if you ask me. I really don't have a lot of time to play so I'm OK with just one platform. I mean, I still have like 3-4 PS3 games waiting to be played .

Another plus on the PS3 side is that the Steelbooks are G2 size, whereas the X360 are G1 size. I mean, they have some nice ones, but I just like keeping uniformity in my collection.

I just got my second game Steelbook, Mass Effect 2 on the PC. I wish it was G2!

My first one was MW2 on the PS3.

(J/K)

Seriously though, it would be nice to have one, even though the UK were denied them for some unknown reasons.

I would, but you don't have a PS3

The only reason I have the Star Wars steelbook is because I was helping someone else in the UK to get one. He got it for a bargain too.

You knew that I didn't have a PS3?

...

You psychic or something?

But if you do ever see the xbox version as a steelbook on your "web-travels", let me know.
