The new Blu has an absolutely perfect transfer and a marked improvement over the original release. I don't care if the director intended the film to look degraded or grainy. I don't care if I originally saw it in the theater with a heavy sheen of grain. I buy Blu-Rays because I want to see the film in the best possible quality - and this one delivers precisely that.

I used to get a kick out of these "oh no the grain is gone" threads. Now it's just more than a little sad, and frankly they're a black eye on what could be the best A/V forum around. But I mean no offense, proceed with the discussion.

Meanwhile, I'll be back on planet Earth enjoying this awesome new Blu.

Everyone one of those screen captures from the new version show that it's far too bright. I swear some of you guys could be considered legally blind.

Do you wanna re-think that one, Scooby?

I wouldn't insult blind people like that.

After reading the reviews, there is no inclination for me to upgrade the version I currently possess. Hopefully, they do this film justice and do a proper release in the near future.

I doubt that will ever happen. I think this is it for Predator on Blu-ray.

After studying the screenshots, I'm passing on it. They are too bright and I prefer the darker look to the film.

Hey guys, a bit late to the party but can can some tell me what the problem is with the new edition? A friend of mine who bought says all the characters look how Magneto and Proffesor X looked in the beggining of Xmen 3.

For anyone in this thread or newcomer that reads this thread be sure that you understand your personal tastes when it comes to film. If you want everything to look shiny, too bright, and don't mind fine detail missing then by all means buy the newer version of Predator on BD. Otherwise buy the 2008 version before it goes out of print as it is much more indicative of the film's original theatrical release.

Now, you newcomers don't have to sift through hundreds of posts and the Avatar Worshipers have their fix since it's now June 29, 2010.

I think someone should setup a pole for people who currrently own both the upgraded version and the '08 release and see what they prefer....still on the fence on whether to get the newer version....

What chaps my ass even more, is the clowns saying "Oh, it's only your opinion and entirely subjective that the new version looks bad!"

Um no, dumbass. A film should look as close to the source material as possible, not how YOU think it should look, devoid of what makes it look like a movie in the 1st place. You'll love the new Steve Austin abortio....I mean movie, it looks like it was shot on a cheap HD camera in someone's back yard, but you'll love it, because it's smoother than my girlfriend's wax-job...

There's no point dude, there's too many paid schills on this site. Other sites stamp them out, but they breed like rabbits over here. One of the most honest reviews I've ever read over here and the dumbass brigade come out in force.

I applaud Mr. Broadwater for his honesty.

Some people here need to get of their high horses, on both sides.

"You like the new disc? Obviously you're a paid studio plant" Because that's the only explanation.

Instead of fighting with each other, how about we complain to Fox?

LOL, exactly. The humans in Predator didn't look like CGI characters in the theater, so why should they look like that now?
