I like the Toshiba Regza TV, they are decent looking, almost got one in my bedroom, but the wife wanted to stay with samsung... however, I don't think I would buy their BDPs.... Actually after owning all that I have, I will only buy an Oppo or Sony from now on. Both my Panasonics died after just 1 yr... POSs.

Although I was thinking that if I get a NAD receiver, I may want and NAD BDP also.. and then get a NAD CD player and Amp... AAHHHHHH, with some totems or Dynaudios, that would be the best musical setup ever...(in an affordable price range)

Oh yea, I love my tv. I stood looking at it in the store for 2 hrs until I finally pulled the trigger. I went in to buy the LG right next to it, but comparing the specs and picture quality, and the fact they were the same price, I just had to get it.
The player is decent really, its just to get it working right. I did a little search and found that other players besides mine have the same issue. They need a memory card in the slot to be able to play back BD's correctly.
I wish the manual had said something about that.

have you auto calibrated your system since you added the new speakers? Did you ever have this issue before?
OK, so this is strange. I just called back to clarify what size SD card I should get. The manual says 2GB and the lady this morning said no it should be no more than 1GB. So I called to verify this and spoke to another representative.
Now this guy told me that is not the case, that I don't need an SD card in the slot to make my movies play better. In fact, he just told me that there is a firmware update that he will be sending to me in the mail. Man, I wonder if I call again they will tell me something different. Now, he did say it would be better to get the high speed HDMI so I will order that.

Yea, I see a lot of guys have Oppo player here. Must be a good BDP. I saw the NAD stuff on a site yesterday. Looks nice.

Hmmm if you are really 99.9% movies than I think those LCR are quite interesting personally I like the RC-70 alot for music but as Callas said you could do 2 RC-30 as main front speakers.

I think 3 LCR and 4 RC-R for movies will be the ultimate buy and will hold their own almost against anything for music.

If you want 7.1 then I'd say go for this setup seriously, you will have the best possible matching front sound stage and surround combo.
3LCR and 4 RC-R

well, I think that Sony and Samsungs LCDs are a little bit better, but Toshiba and Sharp are right behind them... I don't like LG tvs, they seem to smoky looking to me. I used to have a Vizio... won't buy that again... Panasonic makes nice LCDs also, but they don't make them big enough.

yeah... i am gonna buy high end and stay with it from now on... I may get an oppo over the nad so i can play sacds... we'll see.

hopefully the firmware will work for you....

The new Sony's also play SACD but I must say OPPO is absolutely amazing.
Why not consider the lower end ES BDP or the 570.

Have you heard them, or is this a blind buy?

I think if you want 7.1 I would get the 3 LCRs and RCRs... or get the RC-30s... I think either way you will have a tremendous setup.

+1 on all the above. But comparing the picture I was seeing among the other displays along with the price just under 1000 I figured it was a no brainer.

I just ordered the HDMI, so that and the firmware should do the trick, hopefully.

What bothers me is that the lady I spoke to first said there was a firmware update but NOT for my problem. Then the next guy I spoke to said the firmware should solve my problem. Now who's right?

Well if I get a NAD Receiver and CDP, then I am thinking of getting the BDP from them also, but it has to play SACD.... otherwise, yes I will look at the other options, but the Sony ES BDP is to pricey IMO, $1500, no thanks... plus I want something known for its musicality and high level sonics to match my speakers and Marantz or NAD or Cambridge will be more my tastes.

Some cd player actully play SACD, if you can get one hell of a BDP that plays all then what is the point of getting a cd player?

The OPPO BDP-83 or BDP-83 SE does it all for ya

Yea, I would love to have something that could play SACD. Never even knew there was such a thing until I came here. Goes to show you how for behind I am on all this stuff. Of course I also need an up to date receiver. Man, I'm so for behind...

It's a blind buy. Special going on today where the speakers are really down from their usual price.

To me having their top of the line RC towers is something. BUT I only listen to music to demo off the system and check for imaging when setting up.

The 7.2 with 3 LCRs up front and 4 RC-Rs in the rear is the correct way of doing things I know. MY SVS subs will produce 10000x the bass the towers ever could.

Just torn between getting 2500$ towers and knowing you can't get better.

But what i really hate in my system now is know that my center and LR are not a perfect match, RC 70 and LCR from what I've read are not a perfect match...close but not PERFECT.

This is exactly why I say go 7.2 and get those 3 LCR you really can't go wrong and Callas second that. They are nice punchy accurate extremely detailed and they will all have the 5 driver config and they perform well vertically and horizontally plus you are going to use 80 hz X-over they would still do fine at 60 hz.

I would just be getting the BPD-80, the 83SE is too much for me. Either that or the 83, not the Special Edition....

Oh, of course the subs will do better with bass then the towers... no question, but some people don't like subs in their music, that was all i was meaning....

exactly, the rc towers are not perfect matches to the LCRs, so if that is what your looking for, the 3 LCRs and RCRs would be the best possible setup you could get and will do everything you want.

I believe you will find the RC series a little brighter then the Paradigm studios... which is funny to say, because the Paradigm monitors are brighter then the RCs and the Connoisuers from Energy..... Just so you know!

1 Mite-T-C center
http://www.totemacoustic.com/product...mite-t_center/
