Agreed with both of your points, however, the decks are "just players" as well, and if Phillips can offer "just a player" to work in a PC at $199, there is no logical reason why the decks have to be priced at $499 and above. I would argue that the additional circuitry, casing, etc of a deck would not cost $300, more like $150 at bulk commodity pricing. This should allow for BD manufacturers to lower their deck prices just a bit, perhaps $399 or $349. Point being, I'm just talking about the hardware here and the hardware components as it pertains to pricing, not the usability or convenience of the device.
