  • will all of the holes be on a stud/piece of wood? Once you find a stud, the next one over should be 16in. That is 16in from center of one stud to the center of the other stud. You will put the screws into the top part of the mount and bottom part. I went a little over board and put some into the drywall also. I only did for extra support, but it wasn't needed.
  • should i use longer bolts since i have a 54" panny plasma? You will have the proper bolts in the mount kit that comes with it.
I can't remember if this was in the vid or not.

(1) I would pre-drill with a drill bit about half the lengh of the bolt.

(2) Use a rachet to hand screw the bolt all the way into the stud. Take your time with this part. No need to rush.

I did both on mine, the Samsung 40" in the bedroom and Panasonic 65" in my basement.

Yes, I bought one of those universal rachets because you will need one to get the bolt tight into the stud.

The monoprice mount that I used needed a 1/2" rachet socket.

This will cost you just a few dollars.

my god thank you all for the prompt replies

how do i KNOW my studs in my wall are 16 inches apart?
i installed a shelf a few months ago and my stud finder kept telling there is a stud and i drilled like 12 holes, per the stud finder, to find 2 studs

will the mount link in the 1st post fit my 54 panny plasma?
^^that^^ is probably a dumb question, but like i said.....tools arent my specialty

you won't know they are 16" until you find them, I'd use the stud finder as a guide (move it really slowly) and then use a small finishing nail to find the left and right ends of the stud just to be sure..

Its imperative that you go into the stud straight, a predrilled hole will definitely help with that.. I helped my friend mount a tv once and by the time I got there he had already started and the lag bolt was seriously going in at a 45 deg angle, that could have been bad for business

Yes, the one you picked will be fine, I just don't know what the difference is between you one you picked and the one I used, which is $51.30

I do have a horror story about a stud finder acting funny....

In my apartment before I moved, the stud finder was going off every 3 to 4 inches. I found out I had little wood planks along the drywall. I'm not sure what they are called, but I'm calling them wood planks.

If you have them, then you will have to check your power plug, they are usually attached to a stud. You will have to go from there.

Hamp, with a mount that pulls away from the wall...how do you manage the cables behind the tv? do you have to keep enough slack to pull away from the wall? Do you use a 28guage hdmi for flexibility?

I'm not sure what gauge HDMI I am using to be honest. A friend of mine works for At&t U-verse and I had gotten (2) 20 foot cables from him.

That cable I have plenty of slack.

When I was in the Apartment, I was using a one arm mount and that pulled out and swiveled. I would often have it facing to the left or right on a regular occasion.

The way my room is designed now, I really don't know why I have this mount. Only thing I do now is maybe pull it closer to me.

i wall mounted my 58' panny with the same bracket. very simple to assemble and mount. make sure you recruit some help because you will be removing the tv from the mount several times to get the alignment correct. my setup was a bit more custom than just finding studs. i may update my profile pix for ya.
