Who says they've all been brightened up?? Have u actually seen it footage playing in front of your face?? I certainly have. I wonder how many comparison's have u actually made and are they only from stupid screenshots?? True that the Predator emerging from the waters is a tad too bright, but you exagerrate claiming its all over the new transfer. That's complete bull!! The blacks are deep and solid throughout. The old transfer is too dark and noisy... I wouldn't call it grainy because it's WAY too much to be even called grain... way too much... And the look of the green blood is pretty faithful since the hue is the pretty much identical... If u dont wanna spend the money, go to a shop that has it playing.

With all this going on, I'm now wondering what LucasFilm will do with the original Star Wars Trilogy? There was some grain in those three movies as well, but I didn't mind since it was part of the experience.

Going from past history we'll get Jar Jar planted in the Mos Eisley Cantina and Chewbacca replaced with CGI. Grain will be the least of our concerns.

persuazion:
You must be one of THE most stubborn people I have ever seen, and that's just from reading through this thread. Even though reviewers have trashed this release (professional I might add), screenshot comparisons showing just how awful this release looks, people testifying that it even looks worse IN MOTION, experts and other people saying over and over that grain is detail and if you remove it you loose detail etc... Even after all of this, you're still debating over this release? |

BWAHAHAHAHA!! that's awesome. Please tell me who you were in that one. I saw that movie as a kid all the time (I've been involved in Chuck Norris's Chun Kud Do Karate for almost 15 years)

Impressive??!! What a piece of pseudointellectual piffle that rant was. "Emotional logic" vs "vanilla logic"? WTH! Snow walker sequence in Empire Strikes Back somehow supposed to illustrate this distinction??!! Drivel |

I demand that this (and any future Blu-rays) look and sound EXACTLY as it did in a movie theater in 1987 !!!!!!
DO NOT DARE touch a single frame of this – all the flickering hair, and sparkling black dots MUST still be seen in today’s HD Home Theatres ! The bottom portion of the screen must be angled and blurry, as it was in 1987, when the projector was not exactly perfectly aimed onto the screen. The stop, pause, fast-forward, and rewind buttons must all be disabled, and it will only play on my Blu-ray player at specific times. If I am late, I miss the opening credits ! If I get a snack or use the bathroom, I miss that portion of the film ! That is how a film IS SUPPOSED to be seen !!!! That is the original intent of the Director and the DP ! I demand that an audible POP followed by the jerky back-and-forth image that occurred at each reel change. In fact, because I distinctly remember the exact pixel-by-pixel presentation I saw in 23 years ago, the second reel MUST MUST MUST be slightly out-of-focus. Then after the second POP and back-and-forth jerk, it is in focus for the rest of the presentation. DO NOT in any way change the sound. IT MUST sound exactly as it did in that theatre in 1987. There should only be sound coming from the left front, and right front speakers. There MUST be the tat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat of the projector in the rear channel. I want to hear the occaissional POP and crackling on the soundtrack EXACTLY as I heard it in 1987. In fact, I demand that there be an annoying low hum in the left speaker and the sound of the movie intermitantly go silent on the left side throughout the feature as THAT IS HOW I SAW IT IN 1987 ! As we are going for authenticity, I demand an optional 7.1 soundtrack with people talking, crunching popcorn, laughing at Arnold’s accent, and the squeak-squeak-squeak of the straws on the lids of sodas. And anyone who disagrees with me is an idiot and hates film and is against the original intent of the director ! |

![]() I don't understand all these people that say "just how it was in the theater" if they saw a film during the pre-stadium seating days. I see films in independant theaters and mainstream stadium theaters, but generally, dvds and blu-rays on an HDTV still seem to look better than how it is shown in the theater due to all the above factors. If the film is not some digital projection, then the video quality on a dvd or blu-ray still looks better than a theater showing with all these above listed factors which are very common. We all see who is working in movie theaters - the quality control is not that great. And we all know that movie theaters are getting very cheap and cutting corners to rip off the customer and just not caring. If you were a young adult, teen, or child when you saw Predator in the theaters, how the hell could you remember how it was shown in the theaters? The only way of remembering how the film exactly looks is if you were already some kind of video quality nutcase back then, which seems very rare because people weren't obsessed with video quality back in the day because home video was about convenience of seeing a film in the home, and not about how it looks and sounds. Nowadays, before we go to the theater, we research if it's a digital projection or not, what kind of audio it is, what's the screen size, etc... I'm not disagreeing with the film being grainy in the theaters. I'm just curious about how the hell can anyone remember the quality of the projection back in 1986? Who saw Predator in the theaters and how old were you at the time? |
