I am always open to an earlier model, but only if I can listen to them first. I will never underedtimate the sound of older Paradigms, especially well kept ones!

If calibrated correctly, no speaker (well just about no speaker) will be "too big" for a room, unless it is simply to big in size for it's placement. A good speaker (with a good source powering it) will sound clear and detailed whether at low or high volumes. I don't think you need to worry about the speaker being to much, but perhaps consider what you have powering it. I am not sure how much clarity you would get with the Onkyo 608 powering them at lower/higher volumes....this may need some attention IMO. Since the 608 doesn't have pre-outs, external amplifcation is not an option. Thus, what you hear from your speaker (any clarity, detail or their dynamic range) and whether it seems to be overpowering your room will be answered by what the 608 is capable of providing.

I've never had any klipsch speakers before but my last set of speakers were Polk satellites. Upgrading from those to my current Monitor 9s (v6) was an incredible difference. I think you'll be more than pleased.

Interesting, the profit margin on the Monitors must be small enough that it isn't worth having them and/or he doesn't want to lose sales to the Studios and Signatures. I guess that makes sense, economically speaking anyway.

Now that your adding more amps is the next step some Studio's? Which ones would you consider for your setup?

Complete opposite. The Ref and Sig lines off much smaller profit margins than the Monitor line.

I would say it all has to do with demographics. The store probably is a higher end store. Another store in the GTA that we are associated with, NAD Master series is their entry level.

It is just they way some store are.

In a lot of cases what it boils down to is, would a store rather sell 5 pairs of Monitor 9s, or 1 pair of Sig 6s. I would rather do the latter as well, just not the demographic of our store. We do a ton of biz with the Monitor line.

Thanks for your reply Ryan, and that was my original thinking....but I figured they might have marked up the Studios and Sig's that much more.....I can't believe they didn't at least have the Monitor 9's or 11's for crying out loud....makes you feel like buying a pair of them might equate to buying a pair of Bose or something...... ...just sayin' !

The wife and I auditioned the Studio 20's v6 on Saturday. I was stunned by the sound they produced without a woofer in the mix (pure two-channel demo). The dealer nearest me wanted a pretty penny, and the stands with simply snowballed to $1650+Tax. While I like Paradigm's sound, that was more than what I cared to spend for a two-channel listening room for the wife.

My theater, on the other hand, has Paradigm Studio 100's, ADP's, and CC, but they are v2. Just now upgrading the power going into them. I wonder what non-Atlanta dealers are asking for the v6 20's in Rosenut. Atlanta is not cheap.
