After some research from what I've been able to gather from several unbiased sources it seems,

The Paramount 190,000 Transformers HD DVD sales probably including sold discs to overseas buyers and wholesalers (fudging the numbers but maybe not actually a lie).

From what the several sources I found the real number would be 137,417 here in North America/Canada. The number was arrived at by taking the Nielsen number of 89,871 and it is said that the Nielsen number is 65.4% of the HD disc market so using that number and adding the other percentage it makes 137,417 or as close as possible.

They gave the sold number for the Blu-Ray 300 DVD as 177,559 sold in the first week using the same method of adding the Nielsen number 107,351 at 65.4% of the market then add the remaining percentage.

So I would guess the best selling high definition DVD is the Blu-Ray 300 disc then the HD DVD Transformers disc and then Blu-Ray Spiderman 3 disc at 135,000 sold.

With the expansion of the formats , I suspect the those numbers will soon fall to new releases soon on the market (maybe Ratatouille?)
Took you this long to realise all of this? We told you days ago.

Not that anyone cares, but you can add me to the list of people who think you do understand more than you're letting on, and are a troll.

You're now on my ignore list. If you wish to add me to yours or if you wish to refute my post, that's fine as well...
I'm glad to be on your ignore list, I don't want someone who can't read and understand simple questions or logic to read my posts anyway.

I never claimed to be an expert on Nielsen, I just repeated what experts say, where did I state I came up with the numbers all by myself with no source for the information?

Trying to explain things to you is like trying to explain physics to a monkey.

And I don't put people on my ignore list because we have a difference of opinion, I'll read anyone's opinion and accept it if it is provable from some unbiased sources.

To do other wise is being intellectually lazy and cowardly.

The more of you "attack" monkeys that put me on their ignore list the better, you are all worse then the HD DVD fanboys are, and that is trying pretty hard to achieve that (I'm not referring to everyone just the really obnoxious ones that just look to attack anyone who doesn't just bow down and worship their BS as fact without explaination or proof).

If you think I am referring to everyone I apologize.

Take 7 days and cool off. Insulting posters is not the way to change their minds.

my vote is 80:20

Ive always been a lot more conservative, but Ratatouille is doing very well and I believe a lot of peopled picked up either Cars or Pixar shorts or both in addition. Plus theres Spiderman risiduals.

I'm sticking to my 78:22 guess from a couple days back.

But hoping for a surprise.

I'd rather be "conservative" and have a good surprise. I'd normally go 80- 20... but ...

Due to the $98 sale (and despite my experience, -some- people must have grabbed a few HD DVDs with their buy), and to Shrek3 (god awful, but let's not underestimate that they literally have -nothing- animated on their format), I'll go out on a limb and say 68 - 32.

But then, we got the PS3 @ $399, residual SM3s, Ratatouille, Cars, and a BOGO.

darnit.

ok, 72 - 28 then!

True, but then so isn't the BOGO right ?
For next week, should be another killing between the BOGO and the residuals SM3/ Ratatouille.

Only serious thing left on the HD DVD plate imho is Bourne and its trilogy.
But then again, it should have to compete vs The Simpsons, Die Hard 4 and the Die Hard Trilogy, Rush Hour 3, and of course the heavyweight PotC: AWE ...
On the "coming from TV" side of things, HighSchool Musical 2 and Lost should do "pretty good" imho

All the Pixar releases plus Spidey residual sales should have us looking pretty good this week. I'm going to be conservative and say 76:24 but I hope it's better than that.

It would be funny if High School Musical 2 outsold Bourne.

So now, after all the complete bull you've posted, you claim to have insider information?

Wow...just...wow.

I could never put you on ignore, you are funny as hell.

You should be concerned when the monkeys are smarter than the one teaching them.

How do you spell RELIEF?
For me, by seeing "suspended" in a most appropriate place.

Anyway, Blueogre, do you really think Toshiba still hopes to win the war? I figure by now, they're down to just hoping they survive, and make it a permanent duopoly. Which might in fact send all HD media to the land of SACD/DVD-Audio.

Turns out numbers might be even better for Blu... we all know Toshiba sold 90,000 A2's, but apparently Sony sold 100,000 PS3's in the week following the release of the 40 GB model...

To be fair, it's 100,000 consoles of all types.

But still a nice number to brag about. And it must be mostly due to the 40gig PS3:

Quote:
Sony said it had been selling between 30,000 and 40,000 consoles per week before the Oct. 29 price cut.

In the first week after the price drop, sales rose to 75,000. Sales rose again to more than 100,000 per week after the introduction of the 40 gigabyte model on Nov. 2, Sony said.

When they say all types, they mean all types of PS3, not all types of Playstation. So...there's not really any discrepancy there.

After all, they were selling 100k a week before across all types of Playstations to begin with.

So in the end, in the past 2 weeks, 175 thousand PS3s were introduced. That's solid. And the REAL sales spike hits black friday through Christmas for video game consoles.
