If not that is the only reason I can think of for them to cancel it since they don't ship outside of Canada. They should have at least sent an e-mail.. I'd you are in Canada I would het on the phone with them but their online xustomer service really sucks from my experience.
Yeah man I'm from Montreal. I placed it online during their Canada Day sale where they were going real cheap. When I first saw the sale everything was in stock. By the time I placed the order everything was in ...will ship when available status. The order went through and everything.

Wanted to double check something the next morning and it wasn't in my ORDERS view. Callled them up and got the usual I don't get paid enough to know anything customer service crap.

i'm not upset makes me appreciate my 590 so much more :-)

Yah their online service sucks a$$. It would have been nice for you to compare it for a month though. I did that last year with the exact same speakers.. Ordered them online and returned them to a Futureshop in Edmonton a month later. Like I mentioned before they were nice sounding but for movies the CC-690 up front is hard to beat. The 590 can't be that far off from it - it's still a pretty big speaker and if you can find v4 fronts you'll have a a kick a$$ front soundstage!!

i've always liked "my morning jacket" for a nice relaxing music listening session. very nice details to be revealed by good speakers(i.e....their first few albums are recorded in a grain silo...great reverb...)

Right now I have a pair of Rc-10 but I decided that am going to move these to the back and order a pair of Rc-30, Rc-50, Rc-70, would the Rc-70 be worth getting even tho my apt living room is only about 15x15 right now until I move one day. I also only have a Denon avr-590 and a Energy s8.3 for the sub. I am using the Rc mini center right now but I plan on one day just ordering the RC-LCR but run the RC-70 with phantom center for right now.

Right now in the current room you are I believe the RC-70 would be an overkill and unless you are trying to fill a really large room I suggest you go with the 50. They are all amazing speakers and with the right gear even the RC-30 can fill a big room and I'd rather have them instead of my C-500.

The RC-50 are not so hard to drive and your 590 should be up to the task. Of course an 890 or 990 would be better but it's fine.

RC-50 unless you are going to drive speakers in large open space even 16 x 20 will be filled with great sound by the RC-50.

I think if you are mostly watching movies the RC-30s or RC-50s would be great. I think if you have a large room and listen to a lot of music in 2-channel, then the 70s would be a better option.... I think if you got the RC-30s and the RC-LCR now you would notice the difference you have been missing.. IMO.

Thumbs up

hey all, after lots of research and demoing plenty of speakers im happy to say ive ordered a set of rc-10's. Even though i havent even heard them yet, it all started with me listening to a set of CB-20 and and being really impressed by what i was hearing. I even sampled Paradygm mini monitors, Titan (a little too pricey for me) and the great sounding Atoms but the Energys for some reason won me over...and after reading that the RC-10 was the higher quality units i decided to go for it cause if i liked the CB-20 the chances were id love the smaller better sounding RC-10. So thanks for the great reading folks and thanks to "miker" for replying to me about the Energys in what seemed to be a "dead" forum!

Aw, well, I certainly don't deserve any thanks. I just happened to check out the forum and saw your post. I send out a big thanks to the guys here in this forum for turning me on to the Energy's. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine. I Plan on moving the RC-10's to the rear some day and maybe get my hands on some RC-30's and RC-LCR center for the front.
You'll also learn a lot from the guys in this thread. They are very knowledgeable about these speakers.

Default Center Suggestion?

hello all,

i know this has been asked but what the best match for the rc-10:
rc-mini center
or
another rc-10 used on it's side

the rc-lcr is very pricey for my bedroom system.

Neither I will say an RC-10 standing up as the speaker was design to work vertically.

I would say just wait for aprice drop on the LCR if you can.

Don't you have a C-C100 I would use this one as center for the time being as the RC-Mini Center does not extend very low.

Paradigm makes good speakers. It really comes down to what is the perfect sound for YOU. I am happy that you found that speaker for you. I would expect the $299 to be about as low as they will get... you MAY get lucky once they anounce a revised RC series(possibly by the first of the year) and see them as low as $250 each.... but there is no guarranty that Energy will be making any anouncements other then the Veritas line being reissued....

but the CS rep from Energy I spoke with on the phone, seemed to allude to keep the eyes open for some possible anouncements between August and January... but he wouldn't say anything else other then, that is when they typically make anouncements.

Congrats on the speakers.

Congrats on the speakers.
My case is interesting in that I was so accustomed to more dynamic sounding speakers compared to the Energy's. But the more I listen to the Energy's the more I grow to love the sound. I never thought I would like a linear sound. At first, I have to admit, I was missing that thud in the chest you feel from a bass drum for example. It's there, and you hear it, but you just don't feel it hit you. I guess the trade off though is a nice clarity and balance in sound overall. Paired with a nice sub for low end (especially for movies) and they sound wonderful. I'm hooked for sure.

And that is why I tried to describe the sound to you the best I could before you bought them. The balance is perfect, and if you like a balanced speaker, Energy and even PSB, make great speakers. The bass as you said doesn't hit you in the chest, but its tight and well defined. I love that my C-300s have great bass, but its not boomy and bloated. Its all im proportion to the mids and highs.

Actually, Steve, you did and excellent job at describing the sound. As I waited for them to come in I kept trying to imagine in my mind how they would sound, and sure enough they sound exactly as I thought they would according to your accurate description. It's kind of hard to explain without having heard them for yourself, but I went ahead and bought them based on your description. I just had a feeling I would like the sound and it just worked out fine. So thank you for your help and advise!
