So I just picked up Near Dark, and despise the cover. I have some images I'm wanting to work with but am relegated to using Gimp in place of Photoshop or Illustrator. Does anyone have any resources or helpful guides on how to go about building a custom cover, and if anyone has done this type of project using Gimp, any hints would be greatly appreciated. Not a cry to have someone else do it for me, since I pretty much know how I want it done, but any helpful tips or templates would be greatly appreciated.

I know you asked for help with Gimp (I use Photoshop & InDesign), but I made a custom for NEAR DARK a while back. PM if you want it.

For Gimp, can you work in layers? I would maybe open a template (or a good custom cover) and work on top of that.

Working on a cover for THE ROCK, similar to the old Criterion DVD.
PM if interested!

Does anyone have the cover art for The Warlords? I have the UK release of this movie and it came in a thick case rather than the slim US case. I would like to move it into the slim case with the correct size cover. It doesnt have to be custom made as long as it fits. Please PM me if there's some site I can get it from. Thanks!

Default What gives

I have a bizarre question. I have a cover built in PS CS3 at 10.5 wide by 5.897 tall. I check the sizes in image size as well as canvas size. All is good. In the print dialog box, it is set to not scale and reads 100% with those same sizes I listed.
I check in the dialog boxes for the print driver and there is no other settings for scaling and such.

When I print it, it is being printed at 10.875" wide by 6" tall. I use PS for the work that I do and have never seen this problem before. The printer is an Epson R1900 with up-to-date drivers. Windows XP SP3. Anyone have any guesses?

UPDATE: For the time being I am scaling down the PS documents to 97% and they are printing good. I did get my cases today and have printed The Bourne Trilogy and Planet of the Apes collection. In the next few days, I will post some "in action" shots.

I like it too. However, I'd dump the "treadstone edition" part. With it, the set has three titles: The Bourne Objective: The Complete Dossier - Treadstone Edition. Just seems a tad too much.

Thanks for all the nice comments. I think you all are right about removing Treadstone. I have printed it for myself at this point , but that's OK.

Iceman, I cannot take credit for the title, as others offered it as a better suggestion to my original: The Bourne Solution.

Thanks dude!! It took along time to create. I didn't like anything I was coming up with and then I found that great paper texture and BAM! it all fell into place.

The entire folder was hand built in Illustrator and PS. I found the logo and the Top Secret stamp and took it from there.

Well I do love the idea of using original and vintage posters for cover, I sure wish more would do that.

A tip for you: get photoshop. Looks like those have been made in MS Paint.
