[Show spoiler]Lots of nudity
It was kinda sad the way Rourke's character basically lived for the sport and for his fans. In the end, be basically
[Show spoiler]lost his daughter for good (although never say never) and then he had to make a decision between his new found love and his passion.
Very good movie, I definitely recommend it
Aint much to smile about in that one. I liked it a lot too. You cant help but feel sorry for the guy, even though he makes one bad choice after another.

Pan's Labyrinth
4/5

I watched Pan's Labyrinth last night on my Instant netflix. The movie was brillant. It was surprisingly pretty guesome in some parts, but i liked it. I loved the dark tone of the movie and the creepy creatures. I love the movies that give you a choice of how to interpet the movie. I definitly give this a solid
4/5. It's a must see.

Dan In Real Life looks really well on blu ray. The colors are nice and stand out nicely. Nothing to really complain about.
AQ:4/5
Very good for a film in this nature, which is 90% dialogue. The music that was in this sounded great and very well mixed. nothing to complain about except that the back speakers were not used that much.

Film:4/5
I knew I was going to love this film within the first eight minutes. Watching this film, I gained this feeling of that I knew these people and I knew who they were. The cast did a real good job of feeling as one family. They had that down perfectly. I actually felt that many of the characters were based out of my family. This film was pretty funny but imo it was more of a drama, which is what I think was intended. So do not go into this thinking you will be laughing the whole time.

Steve does a great job being something other than his typical funny guy in his role. He gave a heartfelt performance and he made you feel for him.
Dane Cook was actually really good in this as well. I will admit I have been put off by this film because of him and I wish now that I wouldn't have been. I like Dane as a standup but I wasn't sure about him bc I've seen his other roles and I wasn't thrilled by them, but he was legit in this.

The point of the film was really well thought and it was nice to see how everything unfolded. Def a great film. I would of gave it a 4.5 but I just didn't think it deserved it. I will say that I could watch this over and over and it will be just as good the next time. I def recommend this to everyone!
I liked enough to buy it. It's just so darn real, like you said.

If you havent seen it, The Family Stone is a very similar "feeling" movie. Its just very real as well and a great mix of Drama, comedy, heartbreak, tension and hope. Very real, like life. I think you would really like it based on your enjoyment of Dan in Real Life.

The absolutely epitome of this is the film I saw the other day, The Return. It's abrupt and doesn't answer any of the main questions and doesn't resolve anything. But it's an absolutely brilliant ending because it really makes you think about what the film means to you. I reallly, really hope you and the other Club Loop members give it a shot because it would def lead to some great discussion.
Its in my queue. And I agree that there have been many movies that have an abrupt answerless ending, and are better for it. Moon is another example. There are so many. When we are left to ponder heavy themes, especially when they are brewing under the surface, thats good.

Where is The White Ribbon in your Queue? I'd be interested to see what you think.

Oh well, we'll always have Club Loop.
So many stories building and merging to...

[Show spoiler]Midwife and son, dead, alive ???????
Schoolteacher and Eva wed????????
Barons wife bail???
Doctor bailed????
The culprit of all the crimes????

At the 2 hour 20 minute mark the narrator (schoolteacher) Says...

"On August XX Germany declared war on France. The following Monday Germany declared war on Russia. I was drafted. After the war I never saw any of the Villagers ever again." The End

And just because you couldnt see a way to end it doesnt mean we should cut Haneke any slack. Personally, another 30 minutes and there could have been quite a few differnt and satisfying ending.

WWWWWWW TTTTTTTTT FFFFFFFF????

Braveheart

Excellent film, very inspiring and full of drama, ohh of course gory battle scenes. My favorite is still Gladiator but Mel Gibson's Braveheart is a treat worth Owning.

Movie 5/5

Exactly, I completely agree. I may very well feel the same as you about White Ribbon's ending. Some films utilize it well, as you point out. Especially when the point is to ponder heavey themes.

I think it's near the bottom of my queue simply because when I added it it wasn't released yet, so when it was released it went to the bottom. That doesn't matter though, I alter the top 10-15 of my queue all the time and I'm sure I'll be adding this up there. The next 2 weeks will be all about the Criterions I haven't seen, then I'm going to use the two I get a week on Before Sunset/Sunrise. Then Shutter Island and Road. Then Rope. Then probably White Ribbon.

Why is that? I think it was pretty clever to change the setting and Glover was a bad ass. Not to mention Paxton haha. He was so funny lol.
