Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment topped the national DVD sales chart with the animated theatrical hit "Ratatouille" the week ending Nov. 11, while Universal Studios topped the rental chart with the comedy "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry."

"Ratatouille" easily topped the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart, selling approximately 40% more units than the previous week's top seller, Sony Pictures' "Spider-Man 3."

The third film in the Spider-Man franchise, however, remained in high sales demand its second week in stores, finishing the week at No. 3 on First Alert. "Chuck and Larry," which grossed just under $120 million in theaters, debuted as the week's No. 2 seller.

Rental demand propelled "Chuck and Larry" to the top of Home Media Magazine's video rental chart for the week, with estimated rental earnings of $9.3 million.

"Ratatouille" debuted at No. 3 with $7.6 million, a surprisingly high debut for a title with such strong kid-appeal.


"Spider-Man 3" was No. 2 its second week in stores, with rental earnings of $8 million.

Another new release, 20th Century Fox's "Deck the Halls," debuted at No. 5 on the First Alert sales chart and No. 4 on the rental chart, with $6.2 million in rental revenue.

Paramount/DreamWorks' "Transformers" remained at the top of the HD DVD sales chart, while "Ratatouille" was at No. 1 on the Blu-ray Disc chart. Both titles are only available on those high-definition formats.

Assuming Spidey does 1/3 of previous week, that's >40k, if Rat was #1, since TF is #1, with last week's 29k sales units, that means Chuck and Larry didn't do that well (any surprise?). That means ......

I think it refers to the DVD. No guarentee, it'll carry % wise to blu-ray

How many copies did Spider-Man 3 sell last week? 40,000 maybe? Then Ratatouille has sold around 56,000 copies.

The '40% more' applies to DVD sales. We don't know about Blu-ray.

Thats very cool of you ...any way we can support Blu. My nephews have a PS3 hooked up to a 720p LCD and I plan on getting them some Blu-ray movies.
