Well, I just crunched the numbers for my BD New Release List over the next 4 months, the budget is as follows....
July = $42 Aug. = $415 Sept. = $662 Oct. = $303 Don't worry I've been saving up for this, and trust me I've looked at it from every angle and theres just no way around this. ![]() ![]() Last edited by RippdBD10101; 07-12-2010 at 03:24 PM. |

I don't have a set amount. It depends on if I catch a deal or not. If I see something that I want, then I buy it......if I have the available funds. But so far last month I only got a few movies cause my Georgia Power Bill went through the damn roof

i can usually budget 1-2 blu's a month out of my paychecks.
we are currently living on my income alone, my wife wanted to be a stay @ home mom so i can't spend like i used to. she stays home tues. through thursday and works for 6 hours a day on monday and friday. her check pays for the babysitter and a bit in our savings. but she gets out of the house this way and so do the kids. BUT....my daughter starts school in the fall so hopefully we won't have to be paying a sitter for her any more. :fingerscrossed: w/my side business, if a box set or a bunch of movies come out in a short time, i pull money from there. ![]() |

Like many, when first discovering Blu-ray it was like, "As God as my witness, I'll never watch SD again!", but truthfully - in a lot of cases - anamorphic DVDs still look pretty darn good. For a lot of content, it's "good enough". I'm reminded of this every time I stick in an anamorphic DVD in my system when the last time I saw it was on my old regular SD TV - I'm like, "Wow, I never knew it looked that good." Now, I'll still be collecting my favorites and the classics on Blu, but, for example, I recently skipped the Amazon special on the Austin Powers films because I haven't watched them in at least 5 years (if not longer) and I doubte I'll be watching them anytime soon. So why upgrade, even at a great price? I know, it's blasphemy, LOL... |

I have a $100 cap per month on my blu-ray releases, and if I've spent up then I'm done for the month. However, if Amazon has a $9.99 offer towards the end of the month then it gets a bit tempting to spend from next month... and it all goes to pieces.
Quite a few of my DVD's will be upgraded to blu, but some never will be. My wife's copy of "Bridget Jones's Diary" can wait until hell freezes over before I buy that in blu. |

I've been spending around $100 per month with a spike in December of around $250-300. I've promised my wife that I would have a 'hard cap' of $50-75 per month, but the problem is I end up spending this amount within the first week of the month. And now the Criterion sale us coming up at B&N...
![]() Maybe I should get a second job. Or perhaps bribery will work. |

I just started collecting in January, so I have spent way too much building a good base over the past 6 months. February I spent about $200 and received $150 in gifts, March about $400, April-June about $300/month. I am a college student so I can afford to do this right now (summer internship), but once I start school again in August my spending limit will have to go way down. I will do my best to keep it below $75/month, which means I will probably just get the new releases that I really want and wait until Christmas for more catalog titles. I don't see me getting past Black Friday for less than $150 though.

How much is my monthly budget? Too high according to my wife and too low according to me
![]() Seriously, though, I think I'm at about 250 Euro average per month, but my better half wants me to cut down on that. It fluctuates from month to month in function of the movies that come out and more importantly the sales that are going on. |
