I still say 78:22, but I can't imagine, what if the numbers were 88:12???

i believe it was stated that transformers was once again hd dvds best seller for the week. max. it sold 20k, knocked up only did 16k, so i chuck and larry are around 10k. so combined they sold 30k, rest of the hd dvd titles, add another 50k combined, so they did about 80k for the weeek. now ratatouille and cars probably did about 200k combined, spidey residual sales probably did a solid 30k (box set + standalone), since blu-ray ahs a deeper catalog and bigger base multiply whatever i gave the hd dvd catalog by 2, which gives us 100k so i got 330k agains 80k. should put us over around 81:29. so im knocking my numbers down a bit. good logic? yes or no.

It does seem logical. I'm not sure rat and cars sold 200k otherwise Sony would have claimed best selling br ever (with rat). I do feel confident blu got hd by at least 75:25

Bumpy week ahead due to Paramount's betrayal of ST fans with Blu-ray.

The Star Trek TOS remastered is out next week I believe on a combo disc incorporating both DVD and a somewhat unsophisticated HD format. The only way to get this on DVD is to buy the combo, so no doubt this will feature heavily in the sales figures for the somewhat unsophisticated format. It should be a big seller and a possible Trojan horse in the house of all ST fans still without HD.

I'm still waiting for the Blu-Ray version... When they come to their senses that is!!!

I bet that rat and cars together sold about as well as Spidey. So that would not set any records, but it would still sell about 200k+ for the 2 titles. Plus all the other titles like Spidey, etc.
I am hoping to see the BD in the 80's.

Meh, I think the $200+ price tag is going to keep sales down for that, not worried at all. Plus, I really don't know how much better they can up the quality given the condition of the masters.

It seems like the 90,000 A2 buyers are only buying HD DVDs from Wal-Mart "IF" they are EVEN buying HD DVDs.

Wal-Mart doesn't report to Nielsen / VideoScan.

My local Wal-Mart, which is a Super Wal-Mart, on average only has about 8 HD DVD titles in stock VS around 24 BD titles in stock. And only a few copies of each.

Wal-Mart "may" move some players in volume but is not moving titles in either format in any real volume.

Their entire HDM section is ONE END CAP of a SD DVD aisle.

With this weeks numbers including Cars / Ratatouille / Pixar Collection, I am leaning 92% BD VS 8% HD DVD.

Next week should also be a total massacre as the BOGOs have Amazon.com's top 100 HDM titles at 93 BD titles VS. 7 HD DVD titles....

Sony didn't do Rat or Cars. Thats Disney. I'm sure there will be something in todays issue that gives us specific sales numbers. ratatouille was a much bigger title than spiderman 3 imo and the 10 dollar off bundle with cars really spurred sales for both movies.

I follow your reasoning, but 81:29 doesn't add up to 100.

Don't you mean 81:19 ???

Also, you should factor in a couple of other things in Blu's favor: the beginning of new PS3 hitting and I think at least 1 day of the B1G1 sales that are going on now, but started in that week.

Hope it's at least 3:1 so I can laugh at a certain pimp over at AVS. The spin will be comedy gold.

My personal prediction, who knows, a lot of hardware has moved on both sides. I say 74:26 as a guess, just short of trumping the pimp's promise (But the 80:20 lurks in the back of my mind though, wishful thinking maybe).

Apparently the masters are from the original negatives (35mm) and are in pristine condition. If this were on BD, I'd have had them on pre-order for months.

Actually it is only $132.95 but keep in mind a large % Trekkies are "purists" and won't go near any altered version of the original....they like it 1967 style and want it left alone.

It is at best a niche title that will move some copies but nothing to be to concerned about.

It is ranked 84 out of Amazon's top 100 HDM titles and 559 out of all Amazon DVD titles.

thanks for catching my error. if im not mistaken we will not have any of the BOGO sales. even though the sale started on sunday evening, none of the title shipped until monday. they are counded when they are shipped. okay, to be fair about 60k ps3s sold, using the standard 20% rule and figuring some bought more than 1, add another 20k to blu-ray, so its 350k against 80k.
