I though people would like to see the difference between the 807 and the 808 inside. Look at that humongous heatsink in the 808! There are now two fans and the caps look bigger too.

Does the 808 have Audysssey Multi XT32? This is suppose to be included in some receivers coming out this summer/fall. I am in the market to buy a receiver to use as a Pre/pro but I am not in a hurry so I can wait for this new feature.

The only newer Onkyo receivers from the xx08 series that I'm aware of so far that will have Audyssey MultEQ XT 32, are the TX-NR3008 and TX-NR5008, to be released next month, August.
And from my understanding, any lower one than these two, will not have it, like the TX-NR1008, and TX-NR808 (and of course the lower models).

* So if you want that extra filtering resolution, aim for at least the 3008.

Thanks, will look for the 3008 next month or two, when they get to market over here.

Thanks Jack for that 808's internal picture fix.

* And here's the 805's interior for further comparisons between all these 800 series models:

* Ok, here's where I'm confused: The rear panel from the 808 shows 7 HDMI connector jacks (6 In/1 Out).
But the interior of the 808 shows 8 HDMI connector jacks!

Jack?

EDIT: Well, after some judicious research, here's my best shot: The receiver's interior that you see here in this quote from this post, is indeed the Onkyo TX-NR1008 receiver, and not the TX-NR808.
-> It matches the weight (41 pounds) and more importantly it matches the number of HDMI connector jacks (8, or 6 In/2 Out),
from the 1008.

And for additional specs:

1. TX-NR1008's Weight = 41 lbs and Power Consumption's rating = 8.8 A

2. TX-NR808's Weight = 40.3 lbs and Power Consumption's rating = 7.5 A
3. TX-NR807's Weight = 39.7 lbs and Power Consumption's rating = 8.1 A
4. TX-SR806's Weight = 37.5 lbs and Power Consumption's rating = 7.8 A
5. TX-SR805's Weight = 50.9 lbs and Power Consumption's rating = 9.5 A

You're right...it appears that the 1008 is what's pictured. That's the picture that's floating around avsforum, but yeah its gotta be the 1008.

I never rely on AVS for accurate informations, it's full of flaws!
You ask for advice on a center channel speaker, they come up with a picture of a soundbar!
Or a receiver, and they show you a picture of a center channel speaker!

* You should see that guy's surround system recommended by people from AVS! He's got a Technics in a box mono receiver, 28 AWG speaker wires, Sony PS1, Bose speaker (lowest grade), Monster Cable digital interconnects and HDMI cable, Wall*Mart generic BD player (no name, but only $20, so it seems like a pretty good deal, but plays only DVDs though; you need an adaptor for playing Blu-rays, so it's BD ready), and only one speaker (Bose) because the Technics receiver is a mono receiver!

Ahh...good find! So the picture posted is correct then.

Well, its still a bit odd. The stock picture shows seven HDMI ports in the rear yet there are clearly eight on the unit that was disassembled. I'm wondering if there are foreign versions with dual HDMI outputs as this appears to be the case with that unit. I'm sure the US version only has seven ports in the rear including only one HDMI output.

There are 6 inputs on the back, 1 input on the front, and one ouput on the rear.

7-in, 1 out

I have decided that the 808 is going to replace my old AVR-247... now to save up $1,299 CAD...

From the Onkyo site

Check the pics of the disassembled 808 and you will see that there are eight HDMI ports on the rear. That's the Japanese version by the way. I'm guessing that the Japanese version differs from the US version in a few ways. I don't see 12V triggers on the Japanese version either.

The problem is with the number of HDMI jacks; on the back there are seven (7),
but on the inside there are eight (8)!!!

* Something just ain't right here.
...The best is for someone to remove the top cover of his 808 and post some inside pictures.
That would be the end of it!

On the Japanese version there are 8 hdmi jacks on the back panel. You looked at the photos right?

Of course I looked at the pictures! Did you?
...Because if you did, there are 7 HDMI jacks on the rear panel, viewed from the rear.

EDIT: Alright, I see now what's going on; on the 808's Japanese version there are indeed 8 HDMI jacks, which two of those HDMI jacks are outputs. ==> That is the major controversy (confusion) right there!
And it's on the 707's Japanese version that we see 7 HDMI jacks, which only one is an output.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

* If only I could read Japanese!

__________________________________

And the North American versions of the 808 and 708 have both the exact same number of HDMI jacks,
which are 7 on the rear panel (6/1 = only one output on both models), plus one more HDMI input on the front panel.

> Now the big question is: Is the inside of the 808's Japanese version the exact same as the North American one?
The proof is in the pudding!

And for additional specs:

1. TX-NR1008's Weight = 41 lbs and Power Consumption's rating = 8.8 A

2. TX-NR808's Weight = 40.3 lbs and Power Consumption's rating = 7.5 A
3. TX-NR807's Weight = 39.7 lbs and Power Consumption's rating = 8.1 A
4. TX-SR806's Weight = 37.5 lbs and Power Consumption's rating = 7.8 A
5. TX-SR805's Weight = 50.9 lbs and Power Consumption's rating = 9.5 A
Go ahead and say it, the 805 is still kicking some butt!
