I think the problem stems from one of location and ethnicity.
To call a person who is Mexican a "Mexican" is fine. The PI aspect is when you throw outthe word "Mexican" to mean any hispanic. In LA it's not an issue because most of the hispanics are mexican. In New York and Florida though... it's different. Plenty of white guys have gotten into fights with Puerto Ricans and Cubans by people calling them Mexicans. As such the PC thing to do is just call them "Latino". Wanna hear something neat. Louie CK (white/red-haired comedian) is a Mexican. Robert Rodriguez is not. |
