Honestly, if a Factory Reset isn't working.....sounds like your iPod may be dead or on life support. Do you ever leave the iPod in your car in the heat of the day?

Never.

It's either in my lunch box going to work, at my work desk, or in my room at home.

Seems kind of odd that it would start doing that out of nowhere if its always being taken care of. Have you tried putting a file on there that it wouldn't read. A video file perhaps that maybe corrupted it?

I'm going to try and fix it again when I get home. My co worker said since my 1 year of owning it has expired, Apple Support won't talk to me. So I'll try to bring it to an Apple Store tomorrow.

If all else fails, I might just buy a new one. Not sure if I want a touch, or another classic.

Classic I'd want the 160 GB

Touch I'd want the 64 GB which is over $300!

I don't want to use my iPhone as an MP3 player.

I'd get another classic. But thats just me. Not enough space on a Touch and when they do release a touch with as much space as a Classic, expect to pay out the ass for it.

You mean like the Classic. The iPod Touch is expensive enough as it is. Frankly, I wouldn't even want them to put a bigger harddrive in it. Imagine a 160GB iPod Touch.......

iPod Touch 8GB - $178.79 via Amazon
iPod Touch 32GB - $263.54 via Amazon
iPod Touch 64GB - $346.54 via Amazon

now imagine a 160GB iPod Touch in that line up........ridiculous

Man.. this is a headache... I need to fix this iPod. If not then I'll seriously start thinking about buying a new one.

WM, and BB.com is slightly cheaper I think right now for the iTouch brand.

i told him not to get an itouch when he already has an iphone. The appeal of the itouch is the wifi. but that is obsolete if you can just use your iphone...

I had this same exact problem when I got my Silver Classic 120GB Ipod Christmas of 08.

Three days after getting it, it would freeze during songs and not be able to be used until I reset it, and then it would freeze again shortly thereafter.

It ended up being trashed, something with the hard drive.

Go to the diagnostics menu on the Ipod. I think you can get to it by restarting the Ipod and then holding the center button and rewind until it boots.

It should boot up into a diagnostics menu where you can run tests, when I did this I couldn't pass.

Maybe Apple can fix it for a price cheaper then a new Ipod. Since mine was only three days old they gave me a new one.

I was reading their legal terms and it looks like a diagnostic fee can be up to 100$ plus tax

I tried that, no go!!

I'm letting my co-worker take it home today and he will play around with it.
My plan was is to bring it to the Apple Store tomorrow to see what they can do.

I appreciate your help. I'll tell my co-worker to try what you said since it didn't work for me.

Ok cool, have you tried restoring it?

Try this and then maybe just sync a few songs and see how they go..;

How to restore iPod

Verify that you have an active Internet connection, because you may need to download new versions of the iTunes and iPod Software.

Download and install the latest version of iTunes if necessary.

Open iTunes. Connect your iPod to your computer using the USB or FireWire cable that came with your iPod.

After a few moments, your iPod will appear in the Source panel in iTunes.

Select your iPod in the Source panel. You will see information about your iPod appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes window.

Click Restore.

If you are using a Mac, you will be asked to enter an administrator’s name and password.

A progress bar will appear on the computer screen, indicating that stage one of the restore process has begun. When this stage is done, iTunes will present one of two messages with instructions specific to the iPod model you are restoring.

Disconnect iPod and connect it to iPod Power Adapter (typically applies to older iPod models).

Leave iPod connected to computer to complete restore (typically applies newer iPod models).

During stage two of the restore process, the iPod displays an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remain connected to the computer or iPod power adapter during this stage.
Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see, because the backlight on the iPod display may be off.

After stage two of the restore process is complete, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear. It will ask you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences, as it did when you connected your iPod for the first time.
