Default Need Help Regarding Getting a New PS3 Slim (Warranty Issue)

Hello all,

Unfortunately for me, my original 60 GB PS3 caught the Yellow Light of death yesterday, leaving me a decision to make. Luckily, I backed up my data two days ago (though just before completing the final bosses in Final Fantasy 13 and starting Alpha Protocol). I have contacted Sony, and they claim there's no such issue as YLoD. So, I've decided to get a new 120 GB Slim model. The thing I need help deciding is where to get it at. I know it all costs about the same, but what I'm really pondering is the warranty services. I am definitely getting the longest service possible, but was wondering which is best? The Playstation Protection Plan? Best Buy's Geek Squad? Etc. Any help would be much appreciated. I probably won't be getting the system for about a week. Thanks all for your help.

As much as people hate them, Best Buy's "extended warranties", which are actually much more than that are the best. My bro's PS3 went skunk and they straight up gave him a new one plus $50.

If that option is available I would pick it first.

Barring being able to buy one from Costco this is the 2nd best choice IMO.

I don't know of any Costco stores around (I am in Wisconsin and noticed one in Madison and Milwaukee). Looking it up online, though, I couldn't find anything about their warranty service. What's all included in it?

So I've purchased my PS3 and have decided to go with the Playstation Protection Plan. Thanks everyone who responded.

Mods, you can close and/or delete this thread. Thanks.

Although you've already made your purchase, I'll answer this question. On most items (including the PS3), Costco has a lifetime return policy. If it breaks in four years, you can return it for a full refund, no questions asked.

On certain select items, such as TVs, computers, and iPods, they have a 90-day return policy, but they extend the manufacturer's warranty an additional year.

Ah, thanks for the info. Defintiely good to know for future purchases. And yes, I already got it because I got one for free via a rewards program.
