I posted some info about this in my https://forum.blu-ray.com/television...n-arrival.html thread, but being a big fan of the Sh*tMyDadSays twitter, I can't see how the hell this will work as a show. For anybody who has even read the fantastic and hilarious lines from Sam, knows this could never work. Anybody else looking for some great one liners? Check out the official twitter for Sam........sh*tmydadsays
![]() THR reports that William Shatner has signed on to star in the TV series adaptation of the popular Twitter account, Sh*tMyDadSays. The account was started by Justin Halpern who had moved back in with his parents and then tweeted the colorful and profane statements made by his 73-year-old father. I’ve read the feed but don’t find it funny. It’s an old guy cursing. It’s not even clever cursing or offensive observations. But THR classifies the father as “larger-than-life” and Shatner has always been adept at playing those kinds of characters. With Shatner now attached, CBS has given the greenlight to a pilot. I still think this show is an awful idea, especially since A) it’s CBS so the cursing part is out already, and B) as much as I love How I Met Your Mother, CBS refuses to let its sitcoms give up the laugh track so essentially it sounds like they’re doing a shitty, half-assed remake of All in the Family. |

Ok, I have been following that Twitter feed for a long time, I love it. Whenever the guy posts more, it's a great laugh. I don't know how they could make a TV show out of it though... I mean, there isn't THAT much material to get from the Twitter feed, and although I do think there is enough to develop the Dad's character, and as much as I believe Shatner is the man for the job, the Dad is just too blunt, profane, and offensive for a family network... It would be great as say... a season of 5min episodes, that were aired on a network that allows that sort of language and outright offensiveness.
However, I applaud Shatner for going this far with it though. It's just such a silly idea that whenever the pilot airs, I will be in front of my TV watching! |

OH MY GOD, why has Twitter just rose from the ranks and gotten to this state for no real reason? Why? Just why? Not saying that the show will be bad but seeing the pointless social networking site gotten this far after its popularity skyrocketed over the last year just baffles me.

My favorite is the one in my sig, lol. But seriously CBS refuses to ditch the laugh track, there is nothing more annoying than a laugh track. It ruined Two and a Half Men for me, I just can't enjoy anything that tells me whats supposed to be funny.

To those of you wondering how they can make a show based on that Twitter feed: Did you ever watch Seinfeld?
Almost every one of those tweets could be turned into a 22-minute sitcom episode, with the plot centered around giving the main Shatner a reason to say the line in question. |

CBS has admitted the pilot to this show sucks, so they have replaced the show's lead Ryan Devlin with Jonathon Sadowski and are going to reshoot most of the pilot. It's interesting that they're replacing Devlin since I just saw a promo for the show Monday that featured Devlin. CBS compared the show to The Big Bang Theory, which also featured a massive overhaul and recasting after the original pilot. I still have very low hopes for this show, although it can't be as bad as it's time slot counterpoint at NBC, Outsourced.

They could have atleast called it Shat My Dad Says, considering who the lead is after all.

It's kind of odd that they're still showing Ryan Devlin in the $#*! My Dad Says promos. I was watching The Big Bang Theory and saw a preview for the show and Devlin was still prominently featured. The show starts in a month and a half and they don't have footage with the new son? This show looks awful and the original pilot was supposedly horrible (CBS admitted it) but I fear this show could make it because of it's strong lead-in and fairly weak competition (Outsourced, Bones, My Generation).

That's right, I forgot 30 Rock had been moved, although it's not exactly a rating juggernaut. Bones has always been a solid performer but it has a different demographic than Sh!t My Dad Says. Bones definitely is not weak, I was referring to the time slot in general as fairly weak, because the NBC shows don't get huge ratings and ABC is trying a new show (My Generation) in that slot and there's no way of knowing how well it will do, although it hasn't gotten much buzz.

This is classic. CBS has issued a letter to viewers struggling to record "$#*! My Dad Says" with their DVRs.
The release comes after The Live Feed's post on the matter, which noted most video recorders have no way to type "$#*!" into their search fields. Here's the letter: Quote:

I'm going to give it one or two more episodes before I make up my mind. I kinda felt some of the things he said were forced and he had to say something for anything that someone said. Also some parts I found to be just unfunny like his brothers wife I thought she was annoying.
