I have them all either on my shelf, or on order.. I usually pre-order them all, but I canceled a bunch of pre-orders when the B&N sale was announced, so I was behind for a couple of weeks...... the ones that haven't been released have been pre-ordered already too.....

I don't have anywhere near all the DVDs, but although I still buy them, I have no desire to own them all.....

edit: my purposes for owning all of the Criterion BDs goes far beyond just "collecting" for the sake of collecting..... so I won't go into all of that..... but I know CG will have the largest Criterion Blu-ray collection after he buys 20 copies of Seven Samurai, and 20 copies of Darjeeling Limited

Criterion has the rights to several silent films, still waiting for the first one (any one) to come out on blu-ray... Doubtful they would have put out even The General... not yet anyway. Probably will be a Chaplin title.

no really.... what does it mean?
All excellent points, but had Criterion not released what they have released I have a feeling I would have been waiting a long time for some of the current titles on Bluray. Either way they are top quality which is one of their selling points. What does it all mean? Well in the end I think it means lower bank accounts possible starvation and having to sell significant others into slavery.
But its worth it!

I ordered "The Leopard" on Blu-ray today from B&N because even with shipping to Canada it was only $32, while from Criterion it would have cost me $40 and instore here its at least 39.99 if not more.
I feel your pain. Criterion is expensive in Canada. I try to find deals online.

HAHA. That's what I've said twice already. So won't say it again until one day AFTER the sale. It's like kryptonite.

Gah so true. So many great films on the cheap! In other news, I've discovered that Sony Pictures Classics is a REALLY great distributor. I didn't realize how many films I owned that they distributed until I rearranged some stuff today.

A Prophet
The White Ribbon
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
Moon
Waltz with Bashir
An Education
The Last Station
Broken Embraces

Sounds small, but Sony also came to the rescue of a number of Weinstein titles I loved

The Road
A Single Man
The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus

Clearly, a quality Home Video distributor to say the least.

I have a question unrelated to Criterion, but I couldn't think of a better place to ask. Does anyone know where to get AQ/PQ reviews for imported Blu Rays? Particularly "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly" (Australian, I think) and "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" (Canadian). Pondering whether or not to buy em, but if the quality isn't good, I'm better off just sticking with my DVDs. Or if anyone has seen them and has an opinion, please let me know.

Purchased my first Criterion Blu through the B&N sale: Seventh Seal. I haven't watched the BD yet, but I saw the movie via Netflix and enjoyed it. I have a few more on the instant que, so I may try to watch them before the sale ends this weekend! I'm looking at the Yojimbo/Sanjuro pack right now.

I will definately be getting Seven Samurai when it comes out! Excellent movie!

Juicy--Japanese release of "Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" is very good.
kind of pricey, but a great version.
plus, it's got an amazing looking cover.

remember Japan is the same region as US and Canada.

I have "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly." It is a very good transfer. I think some of the issue is due to the source. In my opinion, the following review is accurate.
