The CD is even better, because much of the music got edited out of the movie.

The brilliance of this movie is that there are several levels of story. Kinda like several layers of dreams.

Default $246 Million Worldwide so far

The Above includes $160 Million+ so far Domestic (which is around the Production Budget), $85 Million+ Overseas. So it'll be over $250 Million WW tomorrow, if it's not already (which I'm sure it is as the tallies for Thursday weren't in yet).

The foreign hasn't been updated since July 25th, so it probably crossed $250M Tuesday

Glad to see this movie is doing so well. I was a little worried, how would an original movie make it? The smart money is to make thousands of remakes, reboots, and sequels

I bet the home-video sales are going to be really good
Easily a day one buy for me.

Just got back from seeing this. Absolutely loved it. Really cemented Nolan as my favorite director and DiCaprio as my pick for actor of his (and my) generation.

Just a fantastic movie on all fronts. I really don't have a single gripe or nit pick with it. And that's fairly rare for me.

It should hit $200M domestic Monday or Tuesday and based on its holds so far, looks like it should make it to $300M domestic, but not sure how much farther after that. Other movies that have made the amount of money it made at this time in its run finished at $313M and $339M (Fellowship of the Ring and Finding Nemo).

Foreign, its open in all its markets now I believe, so its gross should continue to go up steadily. Maybe $300-$350M foreign would be my guess.

So basically, I think it should finish with $600M-$650M total. Unless it holds longer or falls off faster than it has been so far.

It'll be in the black before it hits home video

I'm actually expecting this to do about $750 million worldwide, don't really see any serious competition till like September so it should do well for some time.

[Show spoiler]wanting to go home / Saito's offer to make it happen = exposition; Fischer inception job = rising action; confronting Mal/guilt = conflict/climax; actually going home to the kids = resolution. Basic 7th grade lit class stuff.
He could have just as easily completed the mission and gone home and quit the business without dealing with his issues, if not for the fact that his subconscious kept sabotaging the missions to drag him down to limbo and force him to face his demons. Had he done so, he still would have been unabsolved and miserable, it would not be enough, and the story would lack interest. He would still become “an old man, filled with regret, waiting to die alone”. Confronting Mal is the central conflict foreshadowed throughout the movie from the opening scene onward, by frequent bleedthrough of his negative memories in every dream and even in some awake moments. Saying it's about getting back to the kids but not about confronting guilt, is like saying the Star Wars saga is about blowing up the Death Star but not about saving Darth Vader.

Expendables looks like a one-weekend blast. It will have its audience, but I don't see it pushing out any of the strong sellers.

Expendables is R-rated which could go against it, and it will have a huge drop of week 2, as people will be disappointed Bruce Willis and Arnold are only in 5 mins.

Default "From a Nolan fave."

"A subplot involving Alex and Jane’s growing infatuation culminates with him sneaking into Jane's dream without the use of the machines which are a part of the process, a point Jane does not realize at first because she is too furious about the erotic elements of the dream Alex instigated (Alex is able to have sex with her in her dream).

With the help of a novelist named Charlie Prince, who has been covertly investigating the project for the basis of a new book, Alex learns of Blair’s sinister intentions.

Prince and Novotny are both murdered to silence them, things get worse when the President of the United States is admitted as a patient, and Alex’s co-hort Tommy Ray Glatman is sent into the President's nightmare in an attempt to have him assassinated.

Blair considers the President a threat to national security due to the President's nightmares of a post-apocalyptic world, which represent his fears and becomes cause for his wishing to enter unfavorable negotiations for nuclear disarmament."

not sure if this was posted yet, but this is a link to a nytimes site that has a commentary of a dream scene. You can move an audio slider from commentary to movie audio. Kind of cool.

Anatomy of a scene with Mr. Nolan
