Hey guys,
This is my first time posting my theater pics and starting a thread. I am still fairly new to the site. I just got done with most of the major stuff in my home theater. I only have to hang TV and speakers, run speaker wire through the ceiling (waiting on wire delivery), put movie posters on side walls, and put rear couch on a riser. I left first pics on there to show what it looked like. We have been in the house less than a month so be easy! ![]() It finally looks like what I wanted. Phew. Any advice on a riser (think I might just go cheap and get a platform bed frame with carpet and rope lighting) would be appreciated. Any other tips or suggestions would be great. Thanks. The only suggestion I would make would be even the surrounds to the center (sweet) spot for seating , If down low won't work than maybe hang them from the ceiling ! |

Ah, yeah. I plan on making shelves to hang near the ceiling for the surrounds and a tall stand for rear center. That will be after I get the speaker wire through the ceiling. Right now they are just sitting on coffee tables and night stands for immediate viewing/listening purposes.

Very Nice - I can't "see" your Front Center but I see where you have 2 of the CS1's listed in your set-up (I can see the Rear Center speaker, so I'm assuming the Front Center is up front there somewhere (below the TV maybe?). Anyway, Very nice room, nice gear overall.
The ONLY thing I'd advise is down the road, or when you can, would be to Upgrade your Sub. I owned a PSW-10 at one point, then two, but finally realized that they weren't cutting it. POLK AUDIO makes Great SPEAKERS, but aren't really known for their Subs. There are MANY Really Excellent Subs out there, so depending on your budget & getting things in order in the New place, if you can find time to browse thru the Subwoofer Thread, by all means do so. I bought One, then a 2nd, PA-120 Sub, & they were Great Together for my needs. Other Sub options include SVS, eD, Hsu, Emotiva, AA, Velodyne, Epik, etc. BUT, if what You have sounds Good to YOU, that's all that matters. Just know, there Are other more Powerful (& Not Expensive) options out there... ![]() ![]() Good luck with getting everything set up & the house in order. We look forward to more photos. |

Thanks guys for the comments! I have browsed the subwoofer forum because I have noticed my audio is not where I want it. It feels empty and since 6.1 is a glorified 5.1, I want to get a new receiver. That will give me an oppurtunity to get rid of a rear CS and get 2 rears for 7.1. But that is further down the road.
Back to more bass, I had thought about the rear seat riser being a bass trap. But I thought about it more while watching a bluray and realized that the sub doesn't put out enough anyway. Sure, maybe it could improve what I have now, but it barely fills the room as it is. I had already looked at another psw10. I am glad you mentioned your experience, Aero. It was great in my last place because it was a tight area and I didn't have a dedicated vieweing area like I do now. I may in fact look at getting rid of my sub for another all together. But again, I am thinking new receiver first! Sooo... I am having a hard time deciding if a new receiver or projection is where I want to go. From my pics the 42" looks a bit tiny. Well, I think it is a bit like that in real life too. ![]() It DOES keep going... and going... too many 'ands' in home theaters! |

I agree with Fors* - the projector would be nice, but should be more of a long term goal. You've got a few other pieces that should be addressed first, IMO. You've got a great room and the foundation to build a really nice system. I'll be interested to check back and watch your progress. ![]() |

Very,Very Nice.I Love the Dedicated space for the Home Theater you have.
And once the paint and chair rail was added the look really was Beautiful. I like the System,Speakers, and Polk PSW10 Sub(Great Idea on the Sub Riser/Legs) I think you have had a Great Start and layed a wonderful foundation. I cant wait to see you continue in building this wonderful system. |

Thanks guys for the support, comments, and ideas.
Today I wired the wall insulated 12AWG I got in the mail yesterday (monoprice.com). Ran it through the wall and the ceiling. Took a litle longer than I expected + I couldn't find any good shelves for my speakers so I had to buy wood, cut, sand, paint, THEN hang it up. But all in all I think it turned out ok. Of course after I go to 7.1 from 6.1 I might want to move them up a little more and set them at 90 degrees from the seats ![]() Next up is waiting on parts for my TV stand to hang it and move the center channel to its rightful place under the TV. Hopefully the rear reclining sofa will be on risers in next picture too! P.S: Not much performance from the subwoofer risers if anyone is wondering. I wanted to simply get it off the floor in case of water (HT in basement and have had a basement seep water before). I moved the sub to the other corner and think that may have helped more then the risers. For $1.20 it was still worth it. Last edited by Leftclicker; 08-05-2010 at 01:56 AM. |
