#2 felt too revenge oriented, too anger based, too relentlessly violent. I guess it is pretty lame of me to make that judgement about a film called Kill Bill 2, ![]() |

I am a big fan of both but I always find myself watching #1, the Crazy 8s scene at the restaurant is so good, boisterous, gory, and then to switch to the quiet outside in the snow for the final fight is vintage QT..... |

I havent reviewed a movie in a few days because I have been watching a few episodes of Entourage Season six each evening.
I probably shouldnt review it here, as its a TV show and not a movie, but for those interested, the PQ is jawdropping with fine detail and color. |

Yes, both "Kill Bill" movies are different fundamentally. I love it that way; it's like they contrast with each other.
I do prefer Vol 1 for its action, which is downright wicked! ![]() Vol 2 is distinctive in its own way; the pacing slows down a lot, and there's only a couple of fight scenes, but there are also a lot of good drama scenes that fill in the gaps of the story and complete it perfectly. When you boil it down, Vol 1 is anime-themed (intense high-action stuff) and Vol 2 is part-western and part-kung-fu (slow, dramatic, profound stuff). All in all though, I prefer to watch both back-to-back, to get the complete story. Just letting you know what you're getting into, Diesel. ![]() |

Watched “Tau Ming Chong,” aka “The Warlords.”
This is one of the more distinctive Asian historical epics I’ve seen; not quite as excellent as “Red Cliff,” but better than some others I’ve seen. “Warlords” has an interesting story that starts small and modest and balloons from there. It may get a bit convoluted as it goes on; I find that the movie is almost episodic as it goes from one great subplot to another, to tell a larger story. Characters are decent and the acting’s not bad. Photography is swell. There are a few good fights and battles. More importantly, there are a lot of interesting scenes of intense social and political drama; the interplay between the different warlord characters really drive the story and conflicts well. Production value is good; lots of impressive sets, props, costumes. 4/5 (entertainment: 4/5, story: 4/5, film: 4.5/5) The Blu-Ray looks great; there is quite a bit of fine film grain, but it’s the good kind. Some scenes in the beginning half show some very fine gritty visual noise (kinda like what was in “Underworld: Rise of the Lycans”), but I don’t find it wholly distracting. Colors and contrast are excellent; sharpness and level of detail is quite high. Sound quality seemed good. PQ: 4.5/5, AQ: 4/5 I actually wonder if I should amend this with the Hong Kong version, which is longer…(but if I do that, should I then get the US version of “Red Cliff?!!” ![]() Once again, my blind-buy pile has been depleted ![]() ![]() |

I Am Legend
I wanted to sell this one a month or two ago because I never watch it (bought in Jan. 2009 and watched twice), but I decided to watch it today; I'm glad I didn't sell it. I tend to forget how much I really like this movie after not seeing it for a while ![]() I love the (mostly) one man show. Will Smith does a really good job in my opinion, he's great in this. Yea the CGI was weak for the dark seekers (stupid name by the way)/animals, but I don't think that should be a knock against the actual movie...just the technical side of the production. Besides, the rest of the movie's practical/special effects (run down NYC) looked quite good. I prefer the theatrical ending to the alternate one. I can appreciate the realization in the alternate that [Show spoiler] but I prefer the ending we got in the theatrical where [Show spoiler] Rating - 4.5/5 |
