If I love it, I already know I'm going to have to buy a SACD player, becasue the S570 is for the bedroom.
Hey, SACD is good to have girls over too!

* Good for sex too!

One lover is all you really need HAMP!

* Wow, you are already getting addicted even before listening to it on SACD!

*** By the way HAMP, in my signature, at the very bottom, there is a link for "Audiophile Recordings" with several SACD reviews in it; it is one of the very best audio recordings' reviews site of the entire internet (that's why it's there in my sig). ...Just click on it and surf around their various audio formats, including SACD.

Did you noticed what I just added to my prior post, now on that quote above yours?

* One step at a time HAMP, one step at a time; get the good software first, then you can think about your next pair of loudspeakers.

(I think you simply misreaded or misunderstanded my prior post, which is totally unimportant.)

~ Anyway the OP has all the info he really needs and his first SACD is on his way.
You can test it by enabling the delay and then playing an SACD. If the display doesn't display DSD DIRECT in direct mode, it is converting to PCM. No need for conjecture.

EDIT - tested it myself, with Delay selected you cannot engage DSD>analog processing, as clearly the DSP's will not work with a DSD signal. Still have no idea why anyone would want to enable this setting to begin with.

Well it came in and I connected the S570 to the 805. I honestly do not hear a difference in AQ between the Sony S570 and the Pioneer Elite cd player.

They both sound fantastic and are worth demoing, but I do not hear anything different.

Switching back and forth between the two, the Elite SPL is higher, but I just have to adjust to the same SPL and the AQ is the same to me.

She sounds wonderful coming out just about all the speakers(5.1)

Sometimes I look for too much and I missed things... Maybe I didn't test enough or something else.

After I type this post, I will do one more test tonight before going to bed and just seeing how the AQ is from just one player, the SACD is a Hybrid and can be played in a regualr cd. I feel I honestly should hear a difference with that test.

HAMP, listen in particular to the tightness of the bass, and the vocal's clarity.
It takes some time at the beginning, but be patient and it'll come to you.

Oh hells yes... I don't have the Jones disc, but the difference should be amazingly apparent...

Hope you enjoy it!

ok, I will give that a try tomorrow, I think I'm too tired.

I also think something could be wrong, It sounds the same as a SACD and CD from the same player.

I do get the DSD display on the 805 when playing SACD
I get Multi-Channel displayed on the 805 when playing the CD
I believe the reason multi is displayed, because I have the DTS setting set to NEO:Music or something like that.

Trust me on one point, nothing is lacking, it all sounds wonderful.

Lucky! Can have one other girl over.

My wife never lets me have one girl over. She is not so liberal.

From the majority of reviews I've read you won't notice much of a difference at all with the Norah Jones stereo SACD over stereo CD as they used a 16-bit/44.1kHz master to make the SACD. Stereophile made a big stink about it when the disc first came out.

Now compare the stereo of Billy Joel's "The Stranger" to the MCH SACD layer and it's night and day difference.

Oh, I can testify to that. Joel sounds like he's sitting in my dang livingroom, and his monitor is pointed right at me.

Incidentally, when I ordered my billy joel Stranger from amazon about a year ago, I accidentally ordered two. Just sold the extra at a nice little profit. But even at the selling price, I'm sure the buyer will experience the amazement I did when I first popped it in...

Glad to hear that i am not the only one who accidentaly orders two albams. I now have two copies of the Days of Future Past by the moody bluse. A great album with a really good treatment on 5.1. I will hang onto the second for a time being. Can never have too many SACD's.

Phew!!!!! I didn't know what to think about this sitution. I do have a quesiton I am a bit confused about. When you say they used '16-bit/44.1kHz master to make the SACD' to master the CD is this bad?

Do you mean it could have been better or is that the best possible?

It means they used the CD-quality master to make the SACD, which is definitely nowhere near the best that could be used.

Analog > DSD would be the best along with recording directly to DSD, and of course the newer format DXD (32/352.8) would also be top notch.
Next would be a high resolution digital source like 24/96 or 24/192, but you're really better off with a Blu-ray in that case (or DVD-A) matching the PCM.

The Norah Jones SACD is limited by the source material. I wouldn't judge SACD performance from that disc.

Ok! I will look into something else...
Thank you for that explanation, I totally understand now

I wish I knew this before I bought two copies of Nora Jones, one being a cd and the other being SACD.

I just learned about DXD, I'm kinda tempted to buy this album just to check it out.
