Everyone has an opinion. I won't take that away.

However, I do agree. I liked the finale a lot. I even had a LOST cake!

I know.

So, you liked the finale then? I have been staying out of discussions since it aired.

Standing alone, I liked the finale, and really season 6, but as a whole, I feel we were robbed of answers and better storytelling.

The whole season felt rushed and out of place to me.

I really haven't given it much thought, though, since it aired.

Hm. I only watched a total of five episodes from the final season. I'm doing my full viewing when it hits blu-ray.

I used to feel that way all the time when I read a Stephen king book. But ultimately, it's their choice and some of the choices the made were dictated by things out of their control. Like Walt. Walt got written out essentially cause the kid grew too fast and didn't fit the timeline that the writers were establishing on the Island. It sucks but that's what happened. As far as Widmore goes, yeah, I wanted an epic battle too. But against Ben. He did kill Ben's daughter after all. There was resolution to this plot point but I wanted more than what I got. So essentially you have two viewers looking for two different resolutions to a character. They certainly can't please us both. The writers can only please themselves.

My suggestion would be to make a fan edit of Season 6 and take out all of the flash-sideways stuff. It will work just as fine without it, but it's kind of a bonus for those of us that enjoyed it.
in regards to Walt...ive said it in previous posts... but the whole he grew up thing is a cop out... yes, he did grow up and would probably not be recognized... but why couldnt BEN have a brief conversatino with Jack explaning his importance etc...it could have been explained in 5 minutes without the need of Walt actually being there

This is one of the few I can figure out. Basically, the flash sideways takes place out of our timeline, most likely at the end of time. At some time, the island protector fails his duty, evil is released, the island sinks, and the world ends. The dead are then awoken in the anteroom to the afterlife (the flash sideways) and this all takes place after the island has sunk.

In many religious traditions, the dead "sleep" and are only awaken at the final judgment.

Of course, the producers led us to believe that the island was sunk because of the nuclear explosion.

Just finished watching the epilogue. It was pretty good, and nothing how the synopsis on Darkufo said it was.

Here's some tidbits and information that we got. Spoilery stuff will be hidden.

Answers and info we get involving:

food drops
polar bears
That huge belt/collar thing with the Dharma logo that Charlotte found in Tunisia
hurley bird
pregnancy problems
The mind control stuff (Karl)
Walt's being special (referred to)

[Show spoiler]Dharma was interested in part in the "Hostile's" loyalty to some deity named Jacob.

The stuff about Ben manipulating Walt to come to the island and be evil or whatever is bullshit.

The previous synopsis on Darkufo was 99% bullshit.

The entire piece is off-island and the 1st half involves shutting down an off-island station, and the showing of a orientation film for Station #1

Spoiler regarding the epilogue:

[Show spoiler]I like how it seems as though Hurley is going to use Walt to release those spirits trapped on the island. It's like Hurley is trying to fix problems instead of protect the light (which is no longer a focus since MiB is dead). How sad was it that Walt was in the Santa Rosa Mental Institute? Poor guy literally lost everybody and was left with nothing but his questions as to why it all happened. I'm really glad it ended like that. Also, it was very clever how they were able to answer so many questions in 11 minutes!

Fantastic epilogue!

I understood that part - but once he puts the cork back in, the light comes back on - it should be dangerous again. Jack should have been changed into a smoke monster when the light comes back on.

Breakdown of the 12 minutes.
[Show spoiler]
Opens with two guys labeling and boxing up cans of Dharma Peas in a warehouse. The titles say they are in Guam. Ben shows up and they don't know who he is. He claims he's from the home office and is shutting them down. They say that no one from the home office has ever shown up before, and Ben lets them know that the Dharma Initiative has been dead for 20+ years.

They don't believe him because they keep getting faxes on instructions. They've been putting the food in a drone that takes it to the island and drops it. Ben says it's an automated process and that no one is actually sending it.

He gives them a severance package of many thousands each and says they can do whatever they want now and are free. He also says that he'll answer one question each.

The one guy asks why they're shipping polarbear biscuits to an area in the tropics (Ben said that it was a tropical island that the drones went to), and so Ben shows them an Orientation video in which Pierre Change refers to his aliases, and mentions the Hurley Bird, the Polar Bears, the collar thing that Charlotte saw in Tunisia, referred to transporting the Polar Bears to another station, referred to the magnetism ****ing with the early pregnancies and to make sure the Polar Bears weren't pregnant when transporting them.

He also showed Room 23 (where Karl was stuck in that Clockwork Orange scenario with his eyes pried open). Chang mentioned the Hostiles belief in a "deity named Jacob", and that the flashing images and whatnot was part of a memory erasing process. They had been kidnapping the "hostiles" and wiping their memories so the Truce wouldn't be violated.

Ben shuts it off and says that he has one more stop.

Then Ben goes to Santa Rosa Mental Hospital and sees Walt who is looking like he's in his early 20's or late teens. Walt is playing checkers and Ben says that he wanted Walt to come with him so they could help his father.

Walt says "My father is dead" and Ben smiles and says "That doesn't mean you can't still help him."

He leads Walt outside to the blue VW Van and when he gets in Hurley is in the back and smiles. He says "Hey Walt" and when Walt recognizes him, Hurley says that he's glad Walt's coming with them because "I have a job offer for you."
