No, the Dixon brothers are new characters created just for the series so it's anyone's guess how much they will factor into the show's story. I am all for different characters, deviations, expanding and omissions from the story that they want to do because I have already read every issue and know the comic's story so it will be a nice surprise to see a different take on it. As opposed to knowing everything beforehand if they follow the comic to a T.

Here is the first part of the Comic Con Panel,(subsequent parts are there as well) it was great and fun. Damn October seems like forever to me now can't wait that long.

As for that trailer, it looks fantastic! Way better than I'd envisioned it. I can't believe that is a tv show!!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe 28 Days Later was released before the 1st issue of The Walking Dead.

Vol.12 is about to be released.
If I understand correctly, TWD is a monthly comic, and every 6 months or so (January and July) you have the paperback release of the previous 6 months.

hell if I know, I flat out hated every Danny Boyle "zombie" movie and I don't read comics, lol. I was just pulling these "facts" out of my ass. I didn't realize that Boyle piece of shit came out that long ago.

Hey, I walked into The Walking Dead panel at Comic-Con cold, so I didn't know about the comic books either. Basically, I was trying to see if zombies were going to be relatively highbrow enough to sync up with AMC's Mad Men and Breaking Bad. All I can say is, I'm looking forward to it in October and hope that DirecTV can flip on the AMC HD feed by the time it airs.

My understanding of the rationale for the comic books is that a Zombie Apocalypse is an ongoing event, and doesn't conveniently end like a zombie movie when the lights come back up in the theater. Obviously, the idea of a never-ending zombie storyline is perfectly suited to comic books, but it's not entirely feasible as an ongoing TV series. With comic books, time can pass by and you don't have to worry about the characters aging, since it's all just artwork, even if there's a change in artists so that the characters look ever so slightly different. With TV, you've got actors aging, a network looking for ratings to justify keeping a show on the air, plus, the network paying the production studio to put the show together. So, yes, I do hope that The Walking Dead TV series is really good and has a nice long run in its present incarnation.

Rumor has it that this will premiere Friday October 8th. Might have to wait and watch it on Halloween in a marathon of what has been aired.

Wow that sucks hopefully being on Friday if that start date is true doesn't hurt the show in anyway.

No show has ever had good ratings on a Friday, this could be very bad for the show. I don't understand why it wouldn't be on Sundays.......Mad Men, Breaking Bad and even the brand new Rubicon is on Sundays. Nothing will be in that time slot come on AMC in October so I don't understand this move at all. What are they afraid of sharing the night with Dexter and the new Boardwalk Empire on HBO?

I don't think so but Dexter would maybe hurt it a little. Sucks as I will have Smallville and Supernatural on Fridays to and now maybe this. I also thought Sunday was there good night with Mad Men, Breaking Bad.

As it is, AMC doesn't exactly set the Nielsens on fire every Sunday. It's shows are, in the vernacular, critically acclaimed, but little-seen. The "marketing geniuses" at AMC could be trying to establish a beachhead to expand original programming to another night, which in this case, would be Friday.

I know the ratings have never been great, but Friday is the death slot on all networks so why try launching here??

Maybe that's why they chose Friday it's the DEATH slot . But I think it's a bad move since this seems to be an older audience show and most teen/older people go out on Friday nights.
