Nothing will be in that time slot come on AMC in October so I don't understand this move at all. What are they afraid of sharing the night with Dexter and the new Boardwalk Empire on HBO?
Except X-Files. But, that was a long ago era.

Which is to bad. Friday and Monday are my most desired tv nights. Monday, I just want to come home and relax with some good shows. Friday, I do the same.

SGU was all I watched last year on Friday.

Wednesday and Friday are pretty much my catch up on the rest of the week time, since very little is typically on those night for me. Seeing as SGU starts back up at the end of next month, I need to revisit it and see if I like it once I get past the first 11 episodes again.

Actually, the first few seasons of Battlestar Galactica aired on Friday nights and that series did phenomenal, with consistently high ratings. I remember this because my wife and I always go out on Friday nights and every Friday I had to record it and watch it later.

Friday night isn't that big of a deal.

True, either the conventional wisdom of the networks is flawed, in somehow assuming that the genre-loving audience will in fact stay-in on Friday nights, or there's just a fundamental difference between the audiences that a broadcast network will draw in vs. a cable net, and therefore, the sustainability of keeping that show on the air.

The broadcast nets air The Sarah Connor Chronicles and Dollhouse on Friday and CANNOT generate an audience large enough to keep those shows on the air. Syfy and Starz air shows like Eureka and Spartacus, respectively, on Friday, probably garnering a comparably-sized audience to the broadcast nets, and yet, are able to keep those shows running because Syfy gets ad revenue and fees from cable and satellite providers, meanwhile, Starz has its subscribers.

The other thing to consider on the part of AMC is that they might be thinking of their Sunday night block as being for their "high-brow" original programming. Let's face it, The Walking Dead is genre material, but don't get me wrong, I believe that it's going to be high quality, because after all, "Story matters here," or so I believe that the AMC tagline goes. If AMC is successful with The Walking Dead, they could be planning to launch other genre original programming on Friday nights.

Kinda cool and sucks at the same time that it premiers Halloween as I have already got my movie list to watch Halloween. Might have to see if I can just wait and watch it or catch a repeat.

It's very cool this is going to start on Halloween what a great time. I am pretty pumped for this since i am a big zombie fan. I think on Halloween i am going to have a zombie marathon leading into Walking Dead.

I believe that DirecTV has been a little late to the party in terms of getting its HD feed of AMC online (when compared with some other providers), but I'm reading that its satellite(s) could be spitting out more HD channels in about six weeks. Here's hoping that AMC HD joins the lineup soon, and BBC America HD would be nice too.

You have a movie list to watch for something over 2 months from now?

On another note, I was hoping for early October....and I thought they gave this a Friday premiere?

Yeah I am a pretty organized person and sometimes think way ahead for things. I actually had some of the movies picked out a month ago.
