Yeah I've seen your reviews on here before, I think we have similar tastes. Glad I could save you

Sometimes I get recommendations from people saying "X" is the greatest movie ever, but I always check for reviews or opinions from some of you guys in here before I bother with them.

Snobbery is a type of ignorance (Which actually would be a more appropriate word).
I couldnt see it more differently. Look at the bond, the caring, the giving of himself to Hal Hollbrook. Every person he crosses paths with impacts him, and he gives in return. He behaves in an honorable and non-materialistic way. He wants to live the opposite way that his parents are raising him. I dont see him taking anything for granted. He works an honest days labor for a fair wage. He declines the advances of a "too young" girl.

Snob? I cant see it on any level.

You turn M off because you are too tired, then five minutes later you put on CotTs.

Dont try to explain.

Fanboys.”

Another road-trip comedy, like “Dumb and Dumber” for geeks. It’s a pretty standard plot, with a cast of likable (albeit shallow and somewhat archetypal) characters. There are a lot of decent parodies, inside jokes, sight gags, cameos, and situations that are amusing and funny. A lot of sound effects and movie lines from other films are cleverly used. I wouldn’t call it the greatest or anything, but it was entertaining, especially for a geek like me.

3.5/5 (entertainment: 4/5, story: 3/5, film: 3.5/5)

This Blu-Ray has decent quality. The image is sharp and very clean. It might have iffy contrast in some parts, but for the most part I see very little wrong with it. Sound quality is just okay; some dialogue in the beginning seems drowned out by everything else.

PQ: 4/5, AQ: 3/5

The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest (part 3)

Nice to get a conclusion, a closure if you will. I have bumped The Girl Who Played with Fire up to a 7 instead of a 6.5/10. And this will get a half score more. Overall quality is pretty much the same as the second movie but it is a bit too long, could definitely be tightened up.
[Show spoiler]I think that this would be the ultimate feministic trilogy, the lifelong abuse of a woman by several men finally prevailing, satisfaction indeed.
I'd recommend this to all of my chickfriends for sure, they'd eat it up!

Overall I'd rate the trilogy 8/10, blindbuy the first movie and rent the other two. I bought all of them, don't mind that but I could've just rented the last two just rather than buying them.

7.5/10

The BD was in the same quality as the second movie, a bit soft and not much else, I guess it reflects the budget of the production quite nicely.

Edit: Here's the reviews for the other two.

Fantabulous and incredulous! Great actors, great cinematography, great score which deserved an award imo, great story and it's just great overall. I really loved Lisbeth, both the character and actress (well she is beautiful and alien like) and Mikael as well, a character you can easily sympathize with. Almost 2 1/2 hours long it never drags. The scandinavian BD looked flawless in the 2.35 : 1 aspect ratio, which happens to be my favourite. This is a safe rent. Apparently an 180 min. extended version is available now, makes me wonder wether I should get that as well. I agree with Squid about the ending, but the hard stuff that happens in the movie justifies the ending for me if that makes sense.

9/10

The Girl Who Played with Fire (part 2)

Almost every component that made the first one so great are not to be found here. The music is bland, even the aspect ratio isn't the same, 1.85 : 1 which dissapointed me greatly, as the cinematic feel is completely lost. The scandinavian BD didn't even look as good as the first, it was softer and not as pleasing as the first. It honestly felt like a TV movie to me, though I still liked it it was a significant drop in quality. The ending was pretty unfulfilling but that's supposedly taken care of in the third installment which I do want to see. Hopefully a "closure" will make me feel better about it.

6.5/10 Edit: Bumped to a 7/10

Red Cliff Part I

I'm having all of my friends watch this film. Everybody loves it so far and I would still rate it a 9/10. Unfortunately one my speakers needs a wire replaced so I'm only at 4.1 surround sound for the time being. :/

Date Night
4.5/5 movie
4/5 PQ and AQ. Just like I thought it was, it was pretty much a funny version of Mr and Mrs Smith.

Heat (1995)

Excellent, my best and most positive viewing of Heat by far! A truly great film, it's more than just a heist movie. 9/10

Casino (1995)

Not as great as my previous viewing, but it was still great nontheless. 8/10

RAN (1985)

An absolute masterpiece! The Studio Canal blu-ray looks far better than what some make it out, IMO. I cannot wait for more Kurosawa to hit Blu! 10/10

That was my thoughts as well, I really felt for her character and I thought how it played out was very satisfactory. As long as you focus on that it should be a fine conclusion.

I'm totally looking forward to Thirst

Yeah I'm a fan, but I think you have me confused with another one, but yes he's an awesome actor

Never heard of that movie, will keep a look out if you write a review. Also regarding Thirst the director did direct Oldboy, I know it will be awesome, just hope I haven't hyped myself too much.

I'm confident Thirst won't let you down, but I know what you mean. I need to watch it again soon.

I'm probably mistaken then . I'll watch it and post my thoughts though.
