Arrow Terrence Malick's Untitled Movie

The notoriously reclusive filmmaker has lured no less than Christian Bale, Javier Bardem, Rachel McAdams, and Olga Kurylenko into the as yet untitled love story he's written and directed. Shooting begins this fall. Now FilmNation Entertainment has come on board to handle the international sales and distribution of the pic which will be available to foreign buyers for the first time at the European Film Market in Berlin. The film will be produced by Nicolas Gonda, Sarah Green and Bill Pohlad. Malick's previous films include: Badlands, Days of Heaven, The Thin Red Line and The New World. His latest The Tree of Life is due for release this year.

With a cast like that (excluding McAdams) & considering his past work, I'd say expectations run high in my view. Can't wait.

Whoa, he's making another film that soon? I'm not complaining though, cuz I love me some Malick.

Put me under the category of surprised like everyone else. I figured he would wait 5 years before doing another.

Oh well, with a cast like that I'm glad it's sooner rather than later.

Default Bale is out

Quote:
While Terrence Malick’s The Tree of Life continues to look for a release date and/or a festival at which to premiere, the director is currently casting his next project. In February, we reported that Malick had cast Christian Bale, Javier Bardem, Rachel McAdams, and Olga Kurylenko in the untitled movie. Today, TheWrap reports that Ben Affleck has replaced Christian Bale and that Rachel Weisz will also join the cast.

TheWrap’s story follows a report from TulsaWorld.com [via AICN] that Ben Affleck and wife Jennifer Garner were spotted at a local store buying fishing supplies, and that Affleck had told a store employee that he was playing a fisherman in a movie that was shooting in Bartlesville. Production is slated to begin the first week in October in Oklahoma, but TheWrap also reports that “The head of Oklahoma’s Film & Music office would not confirm that Malick would be shooting a movie in the state.” As for the movie itself, not much is known other than it’s a love story.

Bummer about Bale... I'm also surprised about Malick's choosing to do back to back films, but that's amazing news!

Weisz is always a good thing, she's a talented and beautiful actress, but Affleck makes me a little

Have to say, there's not much bigger dropoff that could occur than going from Bale to Affleck.

Hey, I live in Tulsa. It would be cool to see a movie like that filmed here in Oklahoma.

I disagree Ben Affleck has really stepped up his game lately and with two new films coming soon, great looking films imo, I'm excited to see how this will turn out. I love Rachel Weisz so im really excited that she joined this. I'm so stoked.

You know I have been 15 years laughing at the "talent" of Ben Affleck and making plenty of jokes at his expense. He really did impress me with his directing abilities on Gone Baby Gone and I must admit that for the first time ever in his career, due to The Town I am looking forward to a Ben Affleck movie. I think hell has officially frozen over.

Rachel McAdams, you say? Might check this out. Not fond of Malick though.

Though Ben has actually been fairly not terrible lately I was rather hoping for Casey when I saw the thread title.

Woah, this is weird. I was expecting The Tree of Life to be followed by at least five years of waiting for his next film, but this is certainly better. I really like Bale, I wish he hadn't dropped out.
