Agreed with the sound. I like the way you don't hear something in the movie but you sure feel it. The speaker comes in a large shipping crate and the build like you say is very good. I got the black finish and it is actually acting as an end table.

There is one scene in Spiderman 3 when the guy becomes Sandman is something you have to feel to fully appreciate. The sound is not distorted just knock your socks off or pictures off the way deep.

This is the one that I have and WOW is the price good right now. Shipping is not cheap because of size and weight but it is the best that I have heard and I checked out many subs before buying.

They do have that impact. This is why I chose them over HSU. The expert reviews find the HSUs a tad more musical. However, they praise that "feel it in your gut" bass with SVS.

Many thanks to everyone for the input! I should have qualified my comments above with the fact that this will be used about 50/50 for 2-channel music and movies. I'd very much prefer tight and musical and would trade some low end feel-it-in-your-gut to get it. Would anyone's recommendation change based on that info?

To be perfectly honest, I don't own one of these. But There are numerous people (also on this forum) that praise both musical quality and pure bass power. It's worth taking a listen for sure.

Well if you are into music then go with the onix rocket UFW-12. Get a sealed sub.

I know JL has always made a quality car subwoofer, but I haven't listened to their home stuff.

Yes, my opinion stays the same if you are listening to lots of stereo music.

Mine sound fine with music maybe not the 100 that is movies but finding a 100% for both will be very difficult.

What about getting an Axiom sub?
It will match the look of your M80's and the Axiom subs are top rated.
An EP500 would be a great addition to what you already have and it meets your price requirement at $1,200.
