I'm sure jhiggy will be pleased to hear that Lolita might come out next year, as well as Barry Lyndon.

No bro. These jerks are getting good. He or She used an industrial blu ray disc. Criterion puts a special code on their disc. It starts with CC followed by the catalog number. This disc says BVDL-03248------ on and on. FAKE. All my Criterion's either have the catalog number or nothing at all.

how's the bitrate?

I bought a fake Chronicles of Narnia - Prince Caspian on Ebay. Very good fake. The only reason I knew it was fake was I had already Netflixed it so knew it was a reference transfer. I looked at the bitrates and knew right away (12-15 Mbs instead of 35-40 Mbps) it was fake.

Have you stuck it in a player to see what it reads out as...1080i, 480i, 720p?

i got a question. What makes a movie your top??? Is it the frequency of viewing it? Or the overall effect it has on you?

Impact on initial viewing. I like a movie that punches me hard the first time, either emotionally, or thought provoking, or funny or sad.

Repulsion

Weird, Weird, Weird flick. I think i got everything down pack so here goes. What a f*cked up woman THE END..

The movie was very different and very graphic. I thought the ideal was good and the acting was good but some of it just made my stomach curl. I get the fact that she was either abused or ignored as a child and she has some type of mental disorder but the ending KILLED me. I guess this wasn't my type of movie. I was going to originally give it 4.5/5 but with a ending like that im forced to lower my score. Everything was good and provoking until the very end. In addition i hate the Polanski doesn't explain the film JERK. Any who still a treat, sour but a treat.

4/5

that's one of the better endings I can recall. what didn't you like about it? not only was it perfect, given the plot up to that point, but it was in perfect harmony with the opening shot (thus creating a loop! eeeek).
[Show spoiler]eye zoom out from the adult woman at the beginning. eye zoom in into the girl at the end.
.

very graphic? I thought you liked Inglorious Basterds?? It was a Disney movie compared to that. Here is my 2 cents: its such an emotional film that the visuals seem more graphic (we're more sensitive to them).

I think many of your complaints (made my stomach curl, etc) are strengths in my book! that's why i watch this kind of film.

Emotional impact.

I don't watch Mulholland Dr., Shawshank or The Green Mile as much as Kill Bill (which is pure fun for me), but I rate them higher.

I agree in general (not watching favorites very often). However, right now I can't stop watching Mulholland and its near the top of my list. What a masterpiece!! And now I read the Blu may be region B locked!

Yep it's top of my list. I'll probably watch it even more when it's on blu. I just hope that the transfer is good. I'm dreaming that it will get the Criterion treatment one day.

i read some people were complaining about some screenshots. I took a lot at them. They looked good, not great. But they're screenshots. Its hard to use them to judge the film.

Probably compressed. At least I hope they are. But they did look soft. Maybe a region B release increases the chance of a better region A one?
