Something like this. Love the TT BTW. Make that from scratch?
Tried that also, it looks ok but I was going to a split between his violent side and his passive side.
The TT is a font, dont remember the name will look in a bit

For that last one, sure, I mean it made sense since it was above each one's head, (even though that didn't look great either), but here especially it doesn't work. Look at it and think 'Why are they arranged like that? Does it flow with the background image?'. In this case it very much does not. And why have you taken up space on his forehead? It's very unbalanced having everything up the top like that.

Rather than continue down the alphabet and make more covers you might want to rethink the way you do them and what you're doing before you commit to such a large task. You might also want to consider the fact that anything as part of a collection is a bad look, each film should be it's own film unless of course it's part of an ACTUAL series and not just grouped together because they're all vaguely war related.

It's a nice idea, but it doesn't work and if you're trying to become a designer I think you need to see this, and move on to something else.
I love how you're always a sack full of positives. The point is that they look good on my shelf.

I love the idea of taking off the redundant Stanley Kubrick. When you do that, center the cover art and it will be perfect! Less is more my friend. oh and is there a synopsis for eyes wide shut, since it looks a little empty on the back.

I just wanted to post a preview of a couple I'm doing:

I'm working on a set for the films of Stanley Kubrick. I want to have a clean front cover with original poster artwork. I haven't really decided what to do with the backs yet.

[Show spoiler]

I'm also removing the "Stanley Kubrick's" from the covers, it's too redundant.

Any input or criticism is appreciated.

thanks man, I want to redo the art, I do not like the criterion cover one bit! I actually prefer the older original poster release.

I agree. I wouldn't want something like Saving Private Ryan in a collection with a bunch of other mediocre films. Each film should stand on its own, and if it has to be in a collection to be worthy it was never worthy in the first place.

To the designer, no offense and maybe it's just me, but those puke green spines are atrocious. Curious, how did you decide on that color for them?

I decided on the that color because it stands out on my shelves. Also, green, blue, and yellow are complimentary colors.

If you're going for complementary colors, yellow and green aren't exactly complementary. Complement of green is red, yellow is violet, and blue is orange. Maybe you should go darker on the green. The green and yellow you chose are both bright and they clash with each other. By making green darker, it makes the text stand out.

No, unfortunately your covers really do look bad. The "Defiance" cover was really bad. For all the reasons he previously mentioned. You seem to have the tools to create a nice cover, but not the creativity or eye for design. Perhaps if you really want to do a "collection," I suggest grouping films by Director and not category.

DGates - The front of the Machete poster looks great but the back needs work. It might work as an insert but I don't think it would work as a back cover And why do you have NTSC on the back? I thought that was a DVD distinction?

I think a nice Camo would go well. Meets the theme, but also provides a little more visual interest. You could even consider different color camos based on the geographic region the film takes place in, like a desert camo for Black Hawk Down.

Another idea, on the spine you could put the logo of the branch of the military primarily involved, silimarly to how you often see a profile picture on the spine.
