I also assume that you can't do 1080p24 with this monitor. Am I wrong? I don't know if the HP can do it either.

Here are some pics. I don't run 1:1 because of how it looks on my cable input. See, I have an HDMI to DVI cable. The 2407 can not handle a 1080i connection because it just can't. There is no interlacing on the DVI/VGA ports. The cable box can only do 1080i. So anyways, here is how it looks at 720p.
720P Fill ![]() Aspect ![]() 1:1 ![]() 1080P Fill/Aspect ![]() 1:1 ![]() Pics look washed out because I had to boost the contrast so you all can see the monitor frame. For 1080p, fill/aspect are identical. For 1:1, it increases the black bars by another half inch top and bottom. As you can see by the 720p 1:1 - I don't run it for that reason. Since I run an HDMI switcher, the monitor sees DVI as 1 source so whatever I set it to do, it does no matter what. It can not differentiate between hdmi1 or hdmi2. It's all the same. That's why I don't run 1:1. Either way it looks good to me ![]() Hope these help someone. |

Thanks for the pix! I don't know why 720p is needed since most BDs are at 1080i/p. Wonder if you've tried 1080i sources like concert BDs.
Hopefully 720p games don't get squished to that size! I gather that there would be more black bars for 1:1 mapping but that's normal, since widescreen computer monitors are 16:10 instead of 16:9. fuad |

Hey there, I have a 2407WFP-HC and PS3 on it looks fabulous. That is game wise, but for some reason it refuses to play movies. How did you get yours to? any ideas why mine doesnt? i swear im pulling my hair out. Ive tried a different cable, different monitor, and still nothing! what am i doing wrong?
I have the Dell on a TV unit next to my bed. I used the HDMI-DVI cable supplied with monitor to connect the monitor to my PS3 and i used the component cable that came with the ps3 plugged into an adapter, and 2.1 speaker setup for sound. I've tried downloaded demos which work fine. Motorstorm works fine, i even tried Ace Combat Zero, which works fine. When i put a DVD in, it goes to "power save mode". I cant do anything but reset the PS3 to get things going again. Help is greatly appreciated! |

Drav-
A few things for you.. the Dell 2407-HC does not come with an HDMI-DVI cable. It only comes with DVI and VGA cables. DVI is white, VGA is blue. This monitor can handle 1080i on Component input ONLY. It can NOT do 1080p on component inputs. This monitor can handle full 1080p on the DVI input ONLY. It can NOT do 1080i on the DVI input. Also, not to doubt you - but you sure this is an 2407-HC ? Ok. My setup consists of an HDMI to DVI cable. This one to be exact - Link - I use this one on my setup. HDMI goes into the PS3, DVI goes into the monitor. I turn the monitor on and make sure it's on the DVI connection (you have to press the input selector button). Then I turn on the PS3 - It should detect that it's connected to a new device and blah blah blah that it's an HDMI connection and would you like to use it and so on. Yes yes and yes. After you do that, you might have to reset the PS3 to pickup the new connection. If that is the case, turn it on and then press and hold the power putton for 5 seconds (it should beep/flash to let you know it worked) to reset it. It should now pick up the connection. Can you get a pic of your cable? |

I recently bought a Dell 27wfp 27" (or what ever) and of course there is no sound, so I've been playing my PS3 without sound, then I found this thread. So I bought the AS501 soundboard. I then bought a AUDIO VIDEO ADAPTER stereo-RCA converter. But the sound is very very quiet. I'm just wandering if 'Drinkmore' or anyone else has had this problem and what they have done to fix it? I have the sound up full blast and can easily understand music but that is about it, it's very quiet. Cheers for any help. |

Make sure everything is tightly plugged in.
Make sure you are using SCART for your sound under the sound settings of the PS3 Lastly, there is a BOOSTER option when you are playing a BD movie. Press the options button and in the pop up menu you will see a speaker icon. Select it and increase the volume to max. See what that does for you. Last edited by DrinkMore; 11-26-2007 at 12:46 AM. |

PC --> to --> VGA on your monitor. Usa a VGA to VGA cable That is the only way to do it. If your PC uses DVI out only, you need to convert it to VGA with an adapter (really cheap). Hope that helps. ![]() |
