There's no reason to have one in every film.

Unless they are played by the great 'Arnold Schwarzenegger'.

[Show spoiler]However I do agree, that aspect of the series has been run into the ground.

If the prequels show initial android technology, that'd be interesting. Maybe they'd look oddly fake, unreal, rubber skin or glazed, still eyes. I always thought that a future Aliens-esque, high octane Alien film would pit a team of Marine 'droids against some Aliens, something WY would do to cut down on human loss and to ensure a more effective, tougher military unit..

Ridely tends to do what he wants, often ignoring traditional convention. I hope that's the case with the prequels. I hope we get something totally new.

A piece of commissioned, initial concept art as released, and then removed. I have an article about it here: http://valaquen.blogspot.com/2010/08...tunity-to.html

The director is getting his two part 3D prequel under way now and gives a few updates on the tone of the film. Damon Lindelof (Lost) is now sprucing up the script, which was originally written by Jon Spaihts.

A central component, the Space Jockey's story from the beginning of Alien, will be explored. However, the as yet untitled prequels will focus more on the origin of the aliens themselves and is set 30 years before the timeline of the original movie. In an interview with The Independent Ridley Scott explains:

Quote:
"The film will be really tough, really nasty," he notes. "It's the dark side of the moon. We are talking about gods and engineers. Engineers of space. And were the aliens designed as a form of biological warfare? Or biology that would go in and clean up a planet?"
As for James Cameron's sequel Aliens which Scott was never asked to helm, the 72 year old director made sure to note these movies will be up to the same critical standards:

Quote:
"Jim's raised the bar and I've got to jump to it," he says, in a friendly jibe at Cameron. "He's not going to get away with it."

I'm really looking forward to this

After Robin Hood, I'm a bit uneasy about this, but then again, it is Ridley Scott. Hoping for the best!

I am really curious as to WHO will be doing the set, creature and costume designs for this one...

...Foss, Ron Cobb, Syd Mead, HR Giger???

And also, will he completely ignore the Predator's relationship with the Aliens regarding their sport hunting of them. I cannot remember if he has commented on this yet.

I hope so. The AvP films are travesties. I hope Scott rewrites the xeno's entire origin and purpose, completely ignoring the AvP cannon.

The AvP films just need to DIE and GO AWAY!

Certainly don't expect Foss, but Cobb is a maybe and Giger is a pretty certain, it's all whether or not Giger will do it.
No Predator or AVP in the prequel, Scott hates 'em.

Part of what makes the Aliens so creepy is you don't know anything about them. Let's hope they do it proper.

I can't believe how excited I am for the prequel! I originally thought it was a bad idea, but the more I hear about it the more I can't wait to see it!

Really Nasty, meaning tons or horrible deaths and stuff, or Really Nasty meaning it's going to be quite mean-spirited

I've got almost all of the Alien paperbacks. In one of them it somwhat goes into the origins of the Alien.

Now its been a long time since I've read it so Im going on memory.

The Aliens have a home planet. Baron and inhospitable to humans. They have a predator. And it's not the Predator you're thinking. Their natural enemy is a flying creature that swoops down and picks them up and takes them away to be eaten.

The "space jockey" or rather one of his own are in the book. They do communicate telepathicly. And they have highly advanced weaponry. If the marines had their weapons. They would have wiped the aliens out by the end of the movie.

Now I dont recall exactly how the alien got lose and killed one of them nor do I recall exactly how the ship crashed on the planet. Matter of fact Im not sure it even talks about it.

Guess I can get it out and read it for the first time in 15 years?

Yeah, that was one of the first things that I noticed.

And the smiley included with The Predators sig is a nice touch also.

You're talking about the Dark Horse comics. They're not official cannon. The troops that land on the 'Alien Homeword' think they are invulnerable to xeno attacks while on their 'hover ski mobiles.' But then they meet the alien's natural predators: dragons.

You would think the writers of that comic would have the sense to know that if something had been stronger than the aliens (and able to digest the alien acid blood), then the corporate/military focus would have shifted to the more robust creature. Instead, the dragons appear in three panels on one page in an ambush on the ski mobiles and then they are gone. Lame.
