Now if someone does borrow a movie I let them sign it out and they have 2 days....its rude to borrow a movie then after a week they still haven't watched it....that's how you miss movies so I do the 2 day rule.I figure if they don't want to watch it in 2 days they can go buy it and watch it when they want to. I'd never lend out the steelbook itself, they movie disc in a generic case, i would. I actually only have 2 people that i lend any of my blu's out to. One is my sister, and the other is one of my friends, that both take good care of stuff. I

I gladly lend out my movies, steelbook or not, a co-worker has Clash of Titan's right now. I lent my Iron Man steel to another co-worker and it came back with a scratch on the case, guess what... the earth kept spinning and I can still breath! Gawd we are talking about some metal and plasic here not the bloody mona lisa. Though I do think lending the disc out in an amary case is actually a good idea, I should start doing that

Yea, I remember that happening to you. But, didn't she surprise you with, if memory serves right, a Star Trek, and something else? I remember you hoping it was Iron Man.

The Star Trek steelbook was a surprise as she didn't tell me she was getting it. I'm chuffed to have them, and can never repay my sister enough. But i'm still not going to lend them out to anyone else besides her. |

It's just material - if it's damaged, the Earth will keep on spinning, but I bet you quite a few people would be a bit vexed. ![]() |

I dunno, I only have 2 Blu Ray Steel Books and 1 DVD. Both Blu Rays are still in the shrink wrap and god only knows about the DVD one, its sitting on a shelf somewhere lol.. I didn't even really know what a steel book was at the time, but like hell I wasn't buying Transformers with a bad ass Decepticon logo on it =)
As far as regular blu discs go, I'll lend them to one friend, and one friend only and that's because I know it won't come back beaten to shit. |

But on the other hand, you have a movie, a movie that for all original intent was meant to be watched, the original thought was proabably meant for it to be watched more than once, perhaps even countless times, it may have cost $30 to buy origianlly, and heck, may even be worth a couple hundred to someone today, would you really not lend that to a 'friend' or a family member? I mean, really? You'd say no? You'd say, no, I don't trust you take care of my $30 piece of plastic for a night? I will put aside not lending the steelbook, especially if it isn't open, if that's you thing, that's your thing, I don't think a real friend or family member would have the nerve to ask you to open it, but if it is open, I really like the idea of just putting the disc in another case, I honestly had never thought of that as obvious of a solution as it is and I think the next time I lend out one of I mine I will take that route. Well obviously the respondants to this thread must be at least 10 - 1 who would not lend the movie and a great number of those people also said they wouldn't lend ANY movie, nevermind steelbook or not. If you can't lend a material item that isn't worth case a beer you either have some serious trust issues or your just selfish. I don't know how else to explain it. |

My Nephew lent out my District 9. Just when I was yelling at him to put the disc in a slim CD case...the Steelbook was out the door. Then a few days later I found out he lent out Wall-e too
