Some will remember that Scott's casting of Sigourney Weaver as Ridley in the original Alien pretty much kicked off her career. Who knows when this meeting may happen and if anything will come out of it, but we can't think of a better way for Arterton to show off her bad-ass side then to fight aliens."

Hope it's true, I like her a lot. She's a good actress and I'd like to see her get some more familiarity with audiences

My sentiments exactly
Except I also like her for her acting, but seeing her in a bas-ass role would be awesome!

Wouldn't mind seeing Michelle Rodriguez in this also, in a tough girl soldier role like they had in Aliens.

No it would not.

I want to see new characters and new ideas. We've already done the tough-chick soldier thing. Let's see something else.

Agreed. I would like to see them go the Predators route, not the exact formula, but something along the lines of a different group of soldiers.

Not as the main focus of the film.

A "tough soldier chick" could still be in the film. I' am not saying one shouldn't be, but it shouldn't be the focus of the film. The other 4 already had that. I would rather it focus on a small group of soldiers, like recons.

I didn't want her as a focus either. M. Rodriguez makes for nice eye candy tho, and fits the tough soldier chick role. Along side of Gemma.

Why so much hate for 3D?If you don't like it,watch it in 2D then.Don't see what the problem is unless it only shows in 3D.Here in oslo, norway most movies in 3D also shows in 2D.Is it like you don't even want the option for people to watch it in 3D since you so vehemently disslikes it? Why do one need high res if the story is good?why elaborate and expensive sets and CGI if the story is good?It can be taken to ridiculous heights that argument. . . . .

Apparently there are some places that don't offer a 2D option, which is a bummer if you don't like 3D.

Not poor taste my friend. I just have never found her attractive enough to call her eye candy. Doable? Maybe. But there are tons of other women I would put in front of her.

I really like 3D,so I was a bit provoked by all this hatred of it,but I can understand it if there is no choice. If there is only a few or even one theater, why not alternate between 3D and 2D?Probably money is the answer to that

I like the 3D too brother. Apparently, many places in the U.S. and Canada have problems dealing with the volume of 3D movies coming out, as they don't have enough screens for all of them, and they don't often offer a 2D alternative. As for me, I'd just rather wait until it comes out on blu-ray anyways so I don't have to go to the theater. So it would be nice if they could get the 3D home theater thing ironed out a bit with the content and the proprietary glasses and stuff.

The thing I've learned is that if someone doesn't like 3D, you aren't going to change their mind. I just wish they would realize the opposite is true for people who do like it and stop complaining so much about it.

This is why Hollywood puts out so much crap. they know there is a large percentage of viewers that will watch sequel after sequel after sequel of the same thing, just organized a little differently.

Has anyone here noticed that all four films in the Alien saga are ALL about a small group of people fleeing from monsters? Do you people really want Ridley to follow that same standard formula and give you more of the same thing? I don't. I want to see new things, new characters, and see a new story within the reasonable boundaries of the Alien franchise.

We don't need to watch another group of hard@$$es running and gunning away from the monsters, and we don't need another Vasquez, either. Com'on people, have a little vision.

I hope Ridley gives us something new, and I have a strong feeling he's going to.

I love the movies, don't get me wrong. But they started to get boring after the first. Like you said, it was just the same situation in each film almost. It could still work for this film however.

I think the film has a lot of potential. I don't see it being the same as the first 4 since it is a prequel though.
