I agree, when I first saw the title heading: NoTLD that immediately caught my attention and grew curious about what those abbreviations meant? When people list abbreviations such as this one it pretty much defines laziness

So uh.. is anyone going to answer the question or just talk about how lazy it is to use abbreviations (in a forum where "BD" is used ALL the time, btw)?

Nope, apparently it's much more interesting to whine about other things than actually discuss Blu-Ray.

BTW a couple of random quotes by Blu-ray Fanatic:

"I still can't wait until FF XIII comes out."

"Right now I don't have any PS3 games because I'm just waiting for GTA IV to come out."

"I just recently requested a brochure from Full Sail and I'm dying to attend that school but the problem is I'm currently attending University of Phoenix and plus I live in Tx."

PS3 is actually even the logo for the PlayStation3... And BD is used by proffessionals as weel. You're on a Blu-Ray Disc website, so naturally, it's ok to say BD and assume everyone will understand. Saying something like EOTS would confuse someone, even though I am talking about Enemy of the State. NoTLD is just as confusing. I thought you were going to talk about Tripple Layered Discs... So comparing someone using BD and PS3 to someone using NoTLD is comparing apples to oranges.

I agree. Abbreviations are OK when everyone knows what they mean: PCM, DTS, PS3, etc. I had no idea what NoTLD meant before I read this thread.

Let's see how strong your point is, do me a favor, type in EOTS in Google and tell me what comes out, now type in NotLD and tell me what the results are There goes your argument.

Iniigftatsp is an abreviation for:

I'm not interested in giving full titles as this sentence proves...

Yes, there it goes... Oh wait, that was just a little part of my argument. The rest still holds up. And oddly enough, I did get a hit on the EOTS. It was an interview with the composer, Harry Gregson-Williams. But the actual guy that did the interview abriviated it later on.

I don't even know, it was some site called "Yumbosis" or something like that. But what difference does that make? How is this even an issue? Did you even read the rest of my post? Anyway who cares, there's still going to be abbriviations no matter what. And of course, there will still be people who don't understand them. And then instead of having the original poster spell out what he's trying to say, they'll have to use google or another search engine to try to figure it out and waste more of their time. But oh well, it's a message board.

You obviously missed MY point, which was that "NotLD" is a very commonly used abbreviation for a movie that has spawned 4 sequels and inspired several other movies.

Wow I don't even care about The Living Dead (OMG that was hard). I simply have to point out how insane it is to assume everyone will know what TLD means when talking about a movie franchise vs. abbreviations commonly used in the home and market place. COME ON PEOPLE.

ITTMSA (I thought the movie sucked ass).

The abreviations are annoying. Remember who your audience is. There are a lot of fans of the movie (I guess?), but you're on a blu-ray site. The abreviations that you see used here are typically related to blu-ray, its players, or its technology. If you want to get better responses, realize who your audience is and be very specific with what you ask in the title.

Or for those that like abreviations:

taaa.rwyai.taalfm(ig)byaobrs.tatysuhatrtbr,ip,oit. iywtgbrrwyaiabvswwyaitt.

Not that I am going to continue debating this, because I am not, this will probably be my last post in this thread. But if it's so common, why did some people have to ask what it was then? And I thought your point now was that other people use abbriviations like BD and PS3, and it's the same thing, even though it's not, PS3 is pretty much used by everyone, in fact most people even say "PS3" outloud when they're talking about it, where as Night Of The Living Dead would probably not have someone going "Yeah I saw NOTLD last night", but yeah...

I too came here wondering what NoTLD was. I think the point people are making is that if someone asks you what an acronym means please have the courteousy to spell it out for them rather than sending them off to Google it.

I totally agree. This forum is used by people who have no idea of what PQ, SQ, NoTLD, etc., etc. I am one of them. If you were taught English as your native tongue, please use it here.
