AJ Green, Georgia's best player, suspended 4 games for selling a jersey to an agent for ~ $1,000.

Dumb move, but 4 games (i.e., 1/3 of the season) is harsh.

Georgia star wideout AJ Green will miss 3 more games for selling a game-used jersey. Green sold his Independence Bowl jersey to someone who meets the NCAA's definition of an agent for $1,000. Green was honest in talking to the NCAA and has repaid the money to charity but the NCAA still suspended him for 4 games, including the opener. Georgia has 3 difficult SEC games they will lose Green for, including at #24 South Carolina, #14 Arkansas, and at Mississippi State.

Edit: Georgia grad O_V_N beat me to it.

Still a weak reason to suspend someone, especially since he gave the money to charity afterward.

Way to harsh. I bet had he listed it on ebay he'd have made well over 1,000 if its not the teams property whose to tell him who he can/can't sell his stuff to, unless it was an agent overpaying for stuff just to get around giving money.

Frankly if I was a superstar player with no money, I'd set an account up and sell my stuff and if the NCAA tried to give me crap BAM lawyer!

FAIL on the NCAA's part as usual.

I was watching the Auburn-Mississippi State game last night before and during breaks of the NFL game and the Mississippi State crowd was incredibly annoying. The entire time Auburn had the ball they were ringing cowbells. The announcers were saying this should result in a $5,000 fine for Mississippi State, because it's against SEC rules to ring cowbells except during time outs. A second-offense will result in a $25,000 fine, and a third-offense would be $50,000. The SEC used to not allow cowbells (or any artificial noise makers) into stadiums but are doing a one-year experiment this season allowing cowbells but they couldn't be used during play. The cowbell exception was aimed at Mississippi State and if their fans proved they would only use the cowbells during designated periods the SEC would consider getting rid of the cowbell ban, but unless the fans change quickly the ban will likely return.

I'm watching the Florida/South Florida game right now, and I have never seen an Urban Meyer offense look so erratic. I'm in shock.

You failed to take into account how much Percy Harvin and Tim Tebow really meant to that offense.

Well if you look at when Leak was Florida's quarterback under Meyer or even at his Utah days, that coach has always had a prolific offense that could score points. This year seems like it might be a first for him, although that defense will keep them in most games.

Chris Leak was good for that offense too though, they're pretty much like USC is going to be once all their walk-ons start taking up more space on their roster than their scholarship kids.

And I think everyone was expecting more from Brantley than we've seen. This kid has a lot of talent and was very highly recruited. These first two games starting he's been surprisingly mediocre. The Gators are gonna get rolled in SEC games playing like this.

Wonder how Gators fans feel about Meyer now, they were getting used to being contenders every year since he took over.

New Centers should hurt most teams, they still should be extremely competitive I think everyone in CFB understands you have down and up years.

I just don't like this continuous embarrassment our conference seems to have in big games.

He's still a semi-deity along with "Saint Tebow" in central Florida. Every year the Gators are racking up top-notch recruiting classes. Even if they struggle and lose 3-4 games this year there's little doubt they'll bounce back next year.

People tend to forget the Gators were not always great even with Tebow at QB. In Tebow's Heisman 2007 season the Gators were just a mediocre 9-4 and lost to Michigan in the Capital One Bowl. And that was the same Michigan team that lost to Appalachian St.
