I remember back during old days when DVD players were not officially available, a guy who is my AV guru bought a Pioneer DVD player (imported) for INR 27000 and I was using a VHS.

And now you can buy a DVD player cheaper than a meal for two in a restaurant in India

The same thing will happen with BD. In the UK BD player prices has come down to £45 now (INR 3000) I bought my Sony S350 at £165.

BD is in UK were £25-£30 when they first released and nowadays you can get BDs at £3-£7 and new releases between £9-£14. And this is because more people are buying BDs as the rest of the chain elements including BD player, AVR, Speaker and TV prices came down.

I am sure this is going to happen in India as well. Just give it some time...We also need to remember that we are too eager to see more movies in BD but that cannot be said for the general mass in India... So it will take time but I think it will be quick.
